If it's going into winter aren't you concerned about one leg being cold? I mean for that price, they could at least provide some coverage to BOTH legs...
I see what is appealing in this strange costume, it's medieval monk chic revisited. A voluntary simplicity statement of the XXIst kind. And I'm all for simplicity. But gosh, only one leg, isn't it pushing it a bit far? The word that comes to my mind is "shred". (French: loque).
Another possible unconscious appeal: the very challenge this accoutrement poses. I mean, VERY difficult to pull off, even for a prepubescent athletic rectangle. The punishing cut ignores any curves. The material will underline every little bulge and if it doesn't find any, will try to invent some. And should you survive this treatment, the color will drain away any life you have left. The hood makes it tricky to accessorize, as it's not meant to be.
Sorry, these are my honest thoughts.
The booties are AWESOME though.
