Is this DVF wrap a better dress for daytime wedding?

I looked at the average highs for the UK in July & it is high 60s. That isn't very warm for me & I had planned a sleeveless dress. I will need a raincoat as it is outdoors & thought I might find a jacket as well. I have had trouble finding colours to go with it in jackets & shoes. I am staying away from black or white jackets.

Yesterday I found this DVF wrap. I have always wanted one since I purged mine that didn't fit. I'm not sure if it is me anymore. I don't know what I like lately. Items go from love to I'm not sure very quickly. The most important question...is it appropriate for a daytime, casual, outdoor wedding? I would rather lean towards less casual as I am family & will be in photos etc. Is the brightness too attention grabbing? I don't want to draw attention from the bride.

I could take the peach dress as well in case of a hot day. It is July after all. If only the same toppers, shoes & bag would work with all of it. I'm thinking maybe white shoes & bag or if I can get the right coral. The wrap dress is coral. I check luggage so if there are better shoe & bag suggestions for just this dress I can also take separate ones for the peach dress.

I am thinking of getting a Burberry trench coat with money from returns & things that I will sell. Which colour of trench would work best with these dresses? Due to cost I also want the colour that would work best with my wardrobe? I wear a lot of black but don't want to wear that to the wedding. The honey is a warmer beige which is better for me than the stone colored "trench" color. Navy is like black. My favourite is the new khaki because I think it would look better on me than honey & still isn't black. Do all colours work for my life & the wedding? Only problem is the khaki ones are 2 inches shorter at 33" & I want the above the knee length at 35". I actually would love the 38" but the fit isn't as good in the one I tried on. If khaki isn't the right length is "honey" good for year round with my wardrobe? Maybe it will lighten up all my black.

This is a gorgeous dress on you and I think it would be just fine for the wedding you described. It would also be easy to dress down for more casual occasions. Mind you, I like the other one too. You could always add a white jacket to ward off the chill. As for the trench, it's really hard to say which colour to pick. You are instinctively attracted to the honey colour, so maybe that's the best option. The khaki would be a muddier/more muted colour wouldn't it?

I really love this dress on you, and as an option for a daytime wedding, Elle.

I personally wouldn't base my decision for the colour of the trench on this dress alone. I would pick the colour that looks most flattering on you (most often the trench will cover a big part of the outfit underneath anyway, right), and that you love to wear. Could you perhaps link to the honey and khaki options? (good point by the way: if you wear a lot of black, then it might be nice to have a non-black trench).

I love this dress and think it is perfect for your event. I prefer the khaki trench but I agree with Inge in not choosing this investment piece based on one dress or occasion. Get the one you love!

Lyn I love the khaki. I think I look better in darker colors. I will see if it is available in the longer one without leather trim. I like the leather but it is more effort to clean.

The dress is terrific and would be great to have in any case. As for the coat, I'd go with the colour that looks best on you. It's not just for this event.

Yes Anna but unfortunately not the one I want. There is one on sale I will ask to see. Some of the others are gorgeous but not classic enough or long enough or waterproof. This will be the most expensive item I have bought & I live in dry LA. Maybe I am silly to buy it. I do travel & don't love any raincoats I have had to date.

I like the dark khaki, but would have to see it on you because for me that's a hard colour to wear.

I'd pack both dresses and see how the weather is on the day. This one is super fab, too! And I think either color coat would be fine, so pick the one you like best!

I would not hesitate to wear my DVF wrap dress to a day wedding, and yours looks fabulous, so I say pack it!

I agree with Suz's advice to go with the color of trench that looks best on you.

Those trenches are gorgeous, Love the styling and nice color choices. To me, that is a high price point item. I do splurge on occasion and when I do, I prefer that it is on something I can use often and have a lot of fun with in different ways. A trench in LA? Don't know how the math of temperature vs. rainy days vs. travel climates vs. other priorities adds up for you. Burberry raincoats are on many wish lists, so if it is your dream, go for it. If you aren't sure, take your time to decide.
