Is this blouse appropriate?

I have a job interview for a customer service position at a call center. would this blouse be appropriate? http://www.avenue.com/clothing.....ctTypeId=1

I was going to wear it with black pants and black flats.

I think it definitely is a WINNER! It's a super example of a work-to-evening-out top, too! Très, très chic! If you have some black pumps, perhaps patent leather, I'd wear those for an interview rather than the more casual flats, though. Idem if you DO ever decide to wear it for a dinner-date after work. Good luck with the interview!

I love the blouse, but I don't think it's appropriate for an interview. Maybe it's the one-shoulder thing. I'd wear it to a casual office, but not for an interview.

I like it but it is a bit "party" for an interview. Perhaps worn with a black suit (i.e. with a blazer over the top)?

No. The bow does it in. You could cover it with a jacket or sweater.

I hear you, but did you notice it's a 'FAUX' one shoulder top? Sure, the sleeves are asymmetrical, but it isn't going to reveal a bra-strap, and I'd consider the asymmetry makes it dressier, not more casual. Most of the plushest evening gowns on the Paris cat-walks for Autumn are also asymmetrical, which is why I wrote as I did about a day-into-evening piece. There is a golden rule (though perhaps it doesn't apply in the US) that a hint of suggestion is chic, revealing is tacky. I'd put that blouse in the former category, and as a busy doctor, I'd wear it in my consulting rooms, though probably paired with a well-cut black or ivory suit (although knowing me, the jacket wouldn't stay on very long. Too restricting for examining a patient! :-))

I think US culture frowns on looking stylish during an interview. You're supposed to look subdued and conservative, unless you're in an arts-related profession.

This is a generalization of course, and there *are* exceptions.

In my opinion, it's a perfect top for your specific interview. I've worked at a call center for a few years now. I would assume the dress code is casual or business casual, so dressing up too much (a full suit) will make you feel uncomfortable and out of place. As long as you are clean and put together, the interviewer will be judging you by your confidence and friendliness. Good luck at your interview! Don't forget to smile, it's the best accessory

I agree that the top is not interview appropriate. It is something I might wear to a job at a call center, but not something I'd interview in.

I agree that this top may be a bit casual for an interview; maybe if it was an artsy venue, it would be different.

I would err on the side of conservative; maybe a less bold print?

For most jobs, I would say no. If it is an interview for a job in which creativity and individuality are prized, then definitely go for it.

ETA: My bad, didn't read the first post attentively enough. For a call center, I wouldn't take the chance. This is the kind of job where they - all too often - want you to read from scripts rather than using your own brain and common sense. What does that tell you?

Having said that, you could probably wear it once you land the job. Any way of finding out if they have a dress code? Some call centers do. If so, you would want to dress to that code for the interview.

I would make sure to wear sleeves for an interview. This only has one, so I'd give it the thumbs down.
