Is this blazer dated?

I thrifted this blazer a while back to see if I would ever wear a short blazer (compared to my other black one which is a longer boyfriend style). Now that I've tested out a few outfits, I'm wondering if my test blazer is dated. It has these lines on the front that make me think it might be. They're not obvious when worn open and I never wear my blazers closed. The photo is overexposed to show the details which can be hard to see on black clothes in photos.

What do you think?

Deep breath. This is my perpetual question with thrifted blazers. I am going to say it is dated although it is not at all apparent in your outfit shot. And I think the short over long totally works on you.

To my eye, the blazer doesn't look dated on you, though off and helpfully over-exposed, the collar width is less current. It is a nice length . The lower stance of the blazer is popular now, but may be more often seen with a narrower collar. I don't mind the "lines" at the waist. Only responding to the question, as in the first photo you look good and additionally, I somehow don't see the collar width.

I'm with Shevia. Looking at it on it's own on the hangar I would say dated. The overall look is fab on you tho.

The jacket works, especially styled short over long as you have. Can you try scrunching the sleeves vs rolling? The shiny lining is a little disconcerting. The detail (embroidered lines?) does not date the jacket.

Love the proportion on you, Sarah! This is one of those items that I wouldn't purchase today, but wouldn't purge right away if it was pulling its weight in my wardrobe. The better the styling, the better these items look.

I think you have kept it current with the styling. I agree with Runcarla about scrunching not rolling the sleeves.

I feel like an echo. Seeign it ont he hanger, I would say dated, yet your styling gives it life.

I love that top. I don't think it's dated on you. Not with the black ankle pants and pointy pumps. It does seem to hang very open, tho... Well, I'm always cold and want my jacket to close and cover...

This is why I have trouble with thrifted blazers...The blazer more than any other piece of clothing can just have "that look"...I have been looking for a double breasted blazer and found one at a good price, seemed to be of excellent quality and a well-known quality brand...I let it pass because I am not sure how the fit through the body of the jacket went and the labels...
Your jacket looks good in picture one...labels scream thrifted in picture 2...Maybe you want to catch my fear of thrifted blazers...smile..

I may go against everyone and say that it is dated. I feel the lapel is wider than the usual trend.

It does look good on you, but then as you said black blazers are hard to photograph. Based on the hanger photo, though, it does look dated. I think blazers, perhaps more than other items of clothing, tend to look dated faster. Now you know a short blazer looks fantastic on you, so your experiment was a success!

Thanks, everyone, for your input. I wasn't worried about the lapels but now that you all brought it up, they do seem wide. I'll have to try it on again and see how it looks now that I'm focusing on the lapels and not just the horizontal lines.
