Is this Aquatalia a boot where a calf-gap would be acceptable?

I had posed the question a while ago as to whether boots always had to fit snugly at the calf http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....t-the-calf . What do you think -- would these qualify as okay gappers?

I'm verrry interested in what everyone says. I have short 'shapely' calves and it is nearly impossible to find no gap at the top.

I'll throw out there that because these have a bit rugged vibe, it might be more OK than if they were polished. It also makes a difference to my eye where the top edge/gap is. Up by the knee bend and it looks funny to me.

And April, you are so polished that I'd wonder. . .

Probably less polished now, MNS -- now that I'm at home full-time, I am not lapsing into gear, but am definitely incorporating more casual pieces (denim -- yay!) than I could when I was working.

It is hard to know without trying them on. For me, it is something that is on a case by case basis. I'd say give them a shot, if they are returnable.

it may be that the aesthetic of slouchy is showing up on boots. the boots in your previous thread were what i consider casual. my fitted boots with functional zips fit very close--of course, i have very generous calves so most of my boots are snug anyway.

on the other hand, my moto boots, slouchy riding boots from WAY back and suede riding-ish boots all fit loose with gappage.

I have smallish calves and Aquatalia fits me perfectly. They run narrow. Have you tried them on yet?

I don't really "need" another pair of boots so I have not tried these on, but I do have the Undy Aquatalias and they fit my calves.

I was just caught by the idea of a pair of suede boots that are weatherproof. At a glance, I would say these would not fit my calf snugly, but was wondering if a slight gap would be okay.

I don't think these would be a good "gap" boot; the lines are sleek and streamlined, and I personally think slouchier styled boots work best with those gaps if that look is appealing to you. A slight gap could be fine, but nothing like that first pic of Jessica in your post from last year.

April, I wanted these Aquatalia boots last year but they were too much for my price range but Nordies put them on sale this year so I got them They fit my legs perfectly. They are suede and waterproof.
