Is this an OK look?

I am referring to the shoes with the pants. first off the nude with the darker colored pants. are the shoes too light in color for the burgundy?

But mostly is this length and width and the slight bunching a look you would wear?

I have purged my straight leg jeans that were too wide at the bottom, but have some dressy and non denim that look much like these that I have not purged. Mostly as one pair are very nice olive Michael Kors, and the other are a great fitting charcoal. I have only worn the MK with tall boots as they seemed not to look "right" with anything else. The charcoal I have worn only with a pair of heeled booties. I would like to extend the wear of these bottoms but do not know what or how to do that.

I think it looks great. I, personally, wouldn't wear heels like that with such a casual look but that's my own style, not because it doesn't it.

I think it works because the shoes are "bookended" by the light sweater. We can't see the woman's hair but perhaps it echoes the bag or the pants.

I would probably hem those pants myself -- I would like them ankle length with that type of shoe, not that I would be wearing a heel like that. ha!

I like this look in general, but like Suz, I would wear ankle pants with it. I think that the nude shoes work because they are the same color as the top, so they are tied in with the overall color scheme.

I'd need to see the front view before saying. I've tried on some straight-leg-pants-and-shoe combinations before that look wrong because there is a combination of a slightly too wide leg plus a little too much scrunch at the hem, and the effect is such that the pants leg poofs out a little bit at the ankle and then scrunches around the top of the foot. It ruins the nice sleek line. I solve this sometimes by rolling the hems rather than wearing them full-length.

As for the color, I think it can work nicely if the top half of the outfit has something lighter colored. I prefer darker shoes with dark pants, but that's a matter of personal preference.

Puddling hemlines is a fringe trend that I'm excited about. Just as a break from all of the cropped-ness. So I'm fine with this look, aside from the high heels which I wouldn't wear.

ETA-- just read Janet's comment and I agree scrunching can look bad. But I think that's with a skinnier leg. The devil, as always, is in the details.

Do you think that qualifies as "puddling" Denise? From the photo they showed on Shopbop, I got the impression that refers to a wider leg.

I have worn this scrunches look with loafers because I like it. Don't wear any pumps like this, but I think the heavier pant material and scrunching don't work as well with this dressy heel.

I like the "puddling" picture they show too. In fact, I have worn my AG Tomboy jeans like this -- they are just *barely* long enough to wear this way over my lowest heel boots, and the effect is quite like that picture. I'm kind of happy to see it coming around as a trend.

I'm always excited when pants bunch at the ankles for me. Right or wrong, at least I know I don't have highwaters again.

I wear my BF jeans "puddled" in the winter but I don't really like it here -- it doesn't seem puddly enough to me, LOL.

The contrarian here: I'm all of a sudden tired of my rolled straight legs and skinnies; puddles of every size and shape look interesting. But I'm not seeing it much on the street yet.

I agree with Denise - I don't mind some puddling. Even though it is pretty slight here. I like the whole look a lot in terms of both colour combo and pant style and length but I would probably wear booties (with a lower heel) rather than high heel pumps.

I feel the shoes go well with burgundy, but then that could also be because the jumper is almost the same color.
I love the color of the pants, but I'd personally take the hem a tad bit higher just to expose the back of the shoe.

I like it too. Don't mind that hem length with the heels. Now this will not look so sleek if the shoes didn't have a heel. But with these very classic pumps and classy handbag, the look works.

I like it. But then again, ankle pants are a look that I just can't wrap my head around. We were taught for so long that highwater pants were a bad thing, and now the only question is how high the flood will be? I just can't.

OH! It definitely looks more than ok! It is looking good! Only thing that seems a lil off to me is the bag! I think the bag and shoes must go together and the same color/shade as much as possible!

I actually love this combo. Nice colors, the nude works great with the burgundy. The only thing that kind of bugs me is that the pants should be just a bit shorter, they bulk a little around the ankle.

There don't seem to be many pant-length rules these days--or if there are, I can't figure them out! You can let your eye be your guide: if you love the way your pants look with certain boots or shoes, the length is probably fine; if you feel that something is a bit off, you'd better try something else. It's the in-between ones that are really tricky--you know, that "This is exactly how the model was wearing her pants with these shoes, but they look different on me" feeling? That, in my experience, usually means there is a proportion problem. As Cocolion said, it's all in the details.

I'm another admirer of puddling . . . sometimes it takes a bit of work to get the pants-shoes combo correct i.e. a look that pleases your eye, but it's so much fun when you do. (I'm not fussed on the bag colour but can't decide what I would prefer.)

Seems to me like you'd pretty much HAVE tp have a bit of puddling on a flared pant if you want the length to be correct at the back when wearing heels (puddling occurs at front).

I'm not sure I like the "back puddle" in this look, always trying. It makes the shoes look too big.
