Yes. If you put some effort into being stylish, it's always a win for the opera. I could totally see someone dressed in this at the SF Opera, adding some dramatic footwear and accessories and maybe putting your hair up in a messy bun with red lipstick. Is there a slit so you can see some leg?
Oh yes! And you must enter the main lobby and do a little stop and pose -- glancing around the crowd and giving them the opportunity to admire you! This seems very European to me. Maybe you should road test it in Vienna. Or actually, Zurich, they have better singers.
I think it would work well for the opera (and as you've mentioned, in Seattle just about anything goes anyway - not that you or I want to necessarily bow to the lowest common denominator!) I can especially see you adding some glam statement accessories - I liked the cuff bracelet in the picture online.
Fun! I think that would work. The only thing that makes me hold back is the grey sleeve. I wish it weren't that particular color of athletic-wear grey...but still...a very dramatic dress!
I think this is brilliant formal wear though I grant that most people nowadays are not used to seeing anything like this choice and would be puzzled if they stop to think about it.
