I purchased this sweater a few years ago. I have worn it for holiday gatherings only. This weekend I am attending a retirement party for an older relative at a nice restaurant. Not 5 stars, but nice for the area. Normally I would consider wearing a dress, but after the party we are going directly to another relative's house to watch the World Series. This is a very casual bunch. I would prefer not to change.
I am hoping to bridge both events with one outfit. So my question is: does this sweater look too much like a holiday-only topper? The color is a much deeper red than is showing in the photo...not rust at all. There is a gold thread running through it, also. The gold thread gives me pause, I guess. I know cascading cardigans aren't really trending, but I am OK with that for this event/crowd. I would wear it over dressy black pants and a black shell with black booties....my fallback formula. Thoughts?
