Is there anything you like about the Olsen Twins?

Sometimes their looks are laughable times two, to me. Other times I want to copy what they do. This link came from Manrepeller, which is what MK and A do best. They seem to have a boatload of confidence, breaking many a rule on fit and proportion. What do you think about the Olsen twins vis a vis their style? Is their anything you could learn from them or would want to copy?

LOL! I actually love some of their streamlined looks and the way that they use oversized with tailored. I don't love most of it, but I do love some of it. And I think they have fun vision if it is their vision reflected in the Row. They wear much more extreme versions and boho isn't my thing...so maybe you and I are in the same boat? 95% no way; 5% yeah.

I like 'em. But most of their looks work because they are small and slight of stature.
I have a huge amount of respect for their fashion lines. Even if I can only afford Elizabeth and James.

Well most of the Elizabeth and James stuff I've seen I like, simple clean lines, nice colors and textures. I think their sweet cherubic faces and flowing locks pretty much add any conventionally flattering needed to an outfit, so they could make wearing a garbage bag look pretty good :). So I appreciate that they don't limit themselves.

I like that their looks are simple, comfortable, and minimalist usually in terms of color, while experimenting pretty wildly with fit and structure.

I didn't like that t-shirt shopping thing they did or their really boring tv show whose name I can't even remember, but I love The Row and giant sized sunglasses and all that. They're honorary Bay Area Native Dressers (except they need to learn to wear headwarmer bands and aprons).

I like their fashion lines a lot. I am not wild about their personal styles, but maybe this is because I've been veering away from boho lately. Still, I think their looks are always worth a second look, and they tend to be interesting and different.

I like several of the looks on the slide show. Not sure any are looks I could/should copy, as they seem to have that youthful waif-like thing going on.

I respect their business sense very much, as well as their rather fearless fashion decisions. I wouldn't wear some of it myself, but then, I am not them.

I like their fashion lines for some of my clients. I like Elizabeth & James best for my own style because it's the least RATE, although still very black.

I love their sense of style and how they've carried that into their clothing lines. I like that they break the rules and look good. I am not cool enough to copy any of these looks though I still mike try.

I haven't ever stopped to think about it before, but now that I do, I have to say that I admire them more than just about any of the many, many young beautiful things out there who are such honey for the papparazzi and often just make me roll my eyes or yawn. Here's what I love about them ...

They have never, ever been limited or defined by their tiny stature. I love that they are so physicially ultra-feminine but both dress and professionally behave like lions.

They really don't seem to care about what anyone thinks they can or should do. They wear and do exactly what they want to do. Bag lady look? check. Love a man old enough to be my father? check. Launch a major fashion label and make it a serious effort? check. Do it again? check.

They seem so in tune with one another. I really enjoy looking at photographs of them together. They are different but so clearly linked. Their bond is so clear, and I find that really appealing.

I suppose what I most admire is that they chose to diverge from the path they started out on as children, when they were their brand. (We have at least 8 of the Olsen twins movies on VHS, sad to say.) At some point, they made a conscious choice to begin creating something outside themselves and shift the focus there. Sure, they still get photographed, but I like that they are known for more than simply being famous. We have enough of those kinds of celebs IMO.

I like that they wear whatever they want. They are short (I think a similar height to me), so they often make me think. I'd say half the time they prompt me to rethink something I thought I couldn't wear. The other half the time they convince me I shouldn't try to wear something.

I have a lot of respect for them as independent thinkers and designers. Loved the Row's show with the diverse models. They and Victoria Beckham are two cross-over designers I admire. Possibly the only two (although I am probably forgetting somebody).

I saw one of the Olsen twins in person a few years ago. She was standing right in front of me in the Starbucks queue waiting for her Nordies contact to fetch her from the flagship across the road. I think she's barely 5ft tall. She was wearing 4 inch heels and I still towered over her in flats at 5ft 6. YES. The Olsen twins are very petite in height.

I think they are really savvy and smart women who have built a very successful and respected business. For that, I like them - they aren't "airheads" or famous just because they're famous. I also like their Elizabeth & James line of clothing - and have great memories of one time looking for a pair of black dress trousers and I was so bored and uninspired - until I found a pair of theirs! Big, baggy, long - and this was several years before big, baggy, and long were popular - and I fell in love with them. I knew immediately that they were my black trousers! And, I loved wearing them - still do!

As for their personal style, well, I can't help but think if I were young and thin and beautiful and spent most of my time in a beautiful temperate climate, why would I hide myself in layers of overwhelming clothes? But to each her own.

I love their style. I never watched them on TV so I don't know much about that part of their life. I love styles that are out there. I also like the closeness between them. They seem so in sync with each other. I will do the hair and big sunglasses. Boho is more in my past. Still love it on others.

When they're neat, I usually think they look nice. When they're doing the homeless heroin addict look, I wonder if they so much as looked in the mirror before leaving the house.

But what do I know? It was years before I stopped wondering which sister was missing from the picture (I always thought it was Mary, Kate, and Ashley).

I love their style. I love that they challenge/break the short girl rules. I love the way they layer and I love how they wear black and white.

I actually admire that they make their styles uniquely their own and they thumb their noses at the whole "petite girls can't/shouldn't wear..." rules. They do so with aplomb and even when their look is more disheveled/bag lady or trampy --they OWN the look. Trends be damned (or in their case, since they have such a fan base that loves to copy their looks, it's trends be SET).

Am also a huge fan of many of their lines. I think because I'm also petite (but curvier than they are in general, except when I'm in weight training mode and become more cut and annular/boyish in figure, a la Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2) they do a good job of cutting their garments to work well on smaller frames.

So, yeah, I'm a fan (and not even afraid to admit it even though I generally am not at all into celebrity style watching/following/mimicking).
