I haven't had time to shop NAS (or anywhere else). I did get to stop in at the Nordstrom flagship store in downtown Seattle for a few minutes last Friday afternoon. I was meeting my sister right outside the doors so we could catch a train to the airport together. (We had a weekend reunion in San Francisco with a small group of men and women we're still close friends with from our college days.) My sister was running late, so I took the opportunity to look around a little. The energy in the store was so exciting, but I only had 15 minutes to spare, so there wasn't time to actually buy anything.
I've lived in Seattle for 14 years, and didn't realize how big a deal NAS was until I started reading YLF a few months ago. I must never have gone into a Nordstrom during that time, even though I can walk to one from my house. I have a generous Nordstrom gift card, and now would be the best time to put it towards something I really want/need, but it's been so long since I focused on my wardrobe that I'm overwhelmed by the options.
My weight fluctuates so much (and right now it's the highest it's ever been, including when I was 9 months pregnant!) so buying expensive clothing, however well-made, has always seemed not worth the investment. What fits me one winter won't fit the next, and then will fit again 6 months after that. What I really need is two or three pairs of trousers and/or jeans, but I just don't have the energy or time to spend hours trying on everything in the store and then getting them tailored to fit right, only to lose or gain 10 pounds a few months from now and have to start over again. Maybe I'll buy myself a nice bag instead.
