Is style a true art?

It is often mentioned on the forum (and by myself) that creating your style is an art and one of YLF's style persona's is Artistic Eclectic but would you class fashion and style as a true art?

It's beautiful enough to be exhibited in museums, couture reaches fantabulous prices and it certainly reflects the life of an era but is it art?

I think of fashion as art and style as craft, the personal interpretation of fashion as art.

Great question. I adore ALL fashion, even the most outrageous designs. That doesn't mean I'll wear it, although I do admire it's pure artistic form. I am a design student, so I KNOW that I see fashion and style through a different lens. Quite analytical.

I guess it's a question of being able to see the art in fashion.

Style is an art form because you are "creating" for the blank canvas of your body. You *are* a walking work of art.

I think it can be. It's a combination of psychology, philosophy and art. If who I am is first what you see, then that expression of self has many layers, including art.

To me, fashion (creating a garment) and styling (putting an outfit together) are different arts- but definitely both art forms.

I think style is an art. As with any art form there is a history to it, you can be taught how to improve/learn about it, and it's up to personal interpretation how you feel about it.

Absolutely. I see a lot of common ground in all artistic endeavors- music, art, design, fashion. And one of the things I've realized is that most people who make it look easy actually work very hard.
