Is stripe overload possible -- already?

I ran through the local mall quickly tonight after yoga -- to get a pair of Gap Long & Leans at Wednesday's 45% off.

I have been searching for my 'perfect' striped tee(s) for spring and summer, and Forever 21 caught my eye. I ducked in there, but was quickly overwhelmed by ALL striped clothing they had If you name it, they had striped it.

I know I am totally visual (and the laundry detergent aisle at the grocery store can get to me), but it was a veritable sea of stripes!!

Seeing so much all at once made me feel like I may have just OD'd on stripes -- without even finding a good striped tee for me. . . !!!

Is this a revival that will be overdone in *one* season?

Yes, 100%. F21, in particular, is in total stripe overload mode. I am glad that I've purchased my striped top last spring and have been wearing it since the beginning of the winter, before the stripe frenzy took over.

There were even stripes in the pharmacy today. I was blown away. Hopefully they will be tamed soon...

I feel like this happens every Spring. Stores go crazy with nautical looks and stripes. I like it, but it can be overwhelming when faced with so much of it lol

Sara...you are funny...I am sick to death of stripes...I have never been a fan so this is akin to visual torture for me:)

Yes - I think the stripes craze is overkill! I have 2 striped tops in my wardrobe that I have had for several years - they don't quite match up to the boatneck striped top that I really would LIKE for this spring, but they are close enough, and so I am thinking that I am just going to stick with them and not invest any of my money on another striped top. (The minute I start seeing trends in the stores, is the minute that I am turned off and determined not to wear them!)

This was exactly the same way I felt about skinny jeans a few years ago. They are everywhere! I hope they go away! ; D

I do think there are stripes everywhere at the moment. But I don't mind since I like them, they are a classic print to me and an easy way to add some interest to an outfit. Although I have 4 striped tops already so I am cut off.

I agree this seems to happen every spring. I remember F21 being pretty bad last year. I hung in there last year, but I shut down pretty quickly this year. My tolerance just isn't what it used to be.

This makes me sad because I LOVE stripes and have been wearing them year round for a couple of years !! I haven't walked around a mall in a while, so i haven't seen all the stripes. I will proudly wear mine until the end...or until I get tired of them.

Well, I went to the Mall of America today and prevailed over stripes I came home with a striped H&M sweater and JCrew tee.

Most of what I tried on was proof that what *I like* and what *likes me* can be very different.

When I recover (from shopping frustrations), I'll be posting pics to see if I did okay. . .

Yep ... stripes are everywhere and my head is beginning to spin. I definitely want a couple - but there are *too* many choices. I think I'll need to start taking photos with my phone in order to remember which store I saw the ones I liked in ... and to remember what they looked like!

I guess one of the perks of not living near a larger shopping mall is that I haven't been enundated with trends really. My shopping haunts are Gap, Kohl's, Target and online...no stripe overload there at all.

I agree-- we haven't even hit a 70 degree day yet and I'm already about done seeing stripes. It almost takes the fun out of it.
I do think that if we all here wear our stripes with polish, sophistication and dignity, we will avoid looking like we just stepped out of F21.

I've no problem with seeing stripes everywhere; stripes are one of my staples, and will continue to be regardless of trend. All these stripes just means I will have a better chance of finding striped items that I usually have trouble finding!
