Is it the pose?

I really liked theses jeans in the photo where the model is crouching and thought it could be an addition to my jeans wardrobe.However when I found the item's listing and this model was standing I was not sure I liked it any more. Do you think it could be just the difference in scale?

In the first pic, the model is wearing the jeans rolled with a white sweater set. That outfit has a different vibe than the second with a cropped top. The first one also seems to have a baggier fit possibly sizing up. I prefer the first styling as well

Possibly. The first picture also has the jeans rolled up. It might just be that in the first photo, you don't see that much of the pattern because of her pose. In the second photo you see much more of the pattern and it may feel like too much for you.

I agree with others, I think it's the cuff that makes the first one look a little better ...

Yeah, the pegged or rolled cuff tapers the jeans slightly giving a different feel. Definitely worth a try and play about at home.

When I fall for something that is heavily styled in the product photo, I look for a ‘flat lay’ photo and seriously study the image, read the description, along with the reviews. Sometimes I realize there is something I’m not going to like - no pockets, wrong rise, wrong fabrications, but other times there is something that confirms that I will really like the product. Ex: the fact that folks found the arms of a jacket I liked ‘too long’ suggests they may be long enough for me!

It can be fun to copy cat the styling from a product photo. Do you have the white sneakers and top, and would you wear the pants rolled?

Agree - one photo is styled and one basically isn’t. One shows more of the jeans than the other. And different models. I think the jeans are on trend, though, no matter what.

I agree with you and like the jeans better in the first photo. Try Runcarla's idea of copying the first picture and see if you like the jeans better. I wear some long pants rolled or cuffed in summer and full length when the weather is cooler. Try them how you would wear them most.

I even get taken in if an item is worn by particular models I like. Those jeans are cute. How did I miss them? I’m reminding myself that the plaid probably isn’t matched all over which is one of my pet peeves.

I love them in that first photo, too! I'd try styling them that way at home. I wish those were available in Canada!

I think it’s the pose and the styling. I far prefer ordering items that have both a “possibilities” shot and a “just the facts” one. With just the first, I’d wonder what they were covering up; with just the second, I might not see the potential. See also dresses modeled with arms draped across the midsection.

I take it as a sign that there is a lot of flexibility in how these can look depending on how you style them. Personally, I like pieces like this that have some nice detail and are still calm enough to serve as a supporting item for the rest of the outfit.

Nikki has said it perfectly! They are nice jeans, I would size up to get the slouchy fit.

Thanks all for your input. Seems like I read somewhere that if an item was presented in an atypical pose, it could mean it is hiding something, so I felt a bit suspicious.
Runcarla-Yes, I have those items in my closet and would style similarly right down to the pose as I do crawl and crouch on the floor playing with toddlers for my job(but would not want to frighten them when I stood up with a loud plaid)
Chewy- I would definitely wear a boxier longer top and roll the legs which to my eye would balance out the amount of plaid.

It’s the big chunky roll that makes them for me too. Not as sure about the oversized slouch because they are high waisted. Sounds like these are a good fit for your job and wardrobe. Would love to see/hear how they work out for you!
