Is it okay to go barefoot (no socks) at a friend's house?

I find bare feet more comfortable than socks in a no-shoes house.

Maybe I'm weird, but I bring socks, so I have options.

If they ask you to take your shoes off, sure.

I think it really depends on the house - there's such a range of norms that there's not going to be one definitive answer.

I think a polite host won't leave you guessing on what to do, but you can always ask if you're not sure.
