Is is strange to purchase shoes from Amazon?

So, this is my first post and I did do a quick search for this topic first, so I hope this is all correct.

Often I find myself unable to find shoes that are in the style I prefer in physical stores. So I've turned to the internet and Amazon especially has turned up a plethora of adorable shoes that are basically exactly what I'm looking for. If they were from well known brands or had a lot of reviews I wouldn't be so worried, but often they have only a handful to no reviews. I don't want to skip them by because I'm SO bored with the selection available to me (that don't feel really "me"), but I'm afraid of wasting money on them too. For reference, I don't have any particularly bad feet problems (I've learned that flats hurt my feet WAY worse than any heels I have do), and I have an office job so I'm not on my feet for huge portions of the day,

I'm attaching some photos of the types of shoes I like for further clarification. So please share your insight? Do you purchase "unknown brand name" shoes from Amazon?

I definitely buy shoes from Amazon. And Zappos. And Nordstrom. All three have great return policies for if the shoes aren't right for me or don't fit correctly. One thing to watch with Amazon is that sometimes Amazon is not the actual vendor, it just serves as a middle guy. In that case, check on the return policy of the actual seller of the shoe. Most vendors on Amazon have reasonable return guidelines, but not all offer free returns, meaning you have to pay to send the shoes back.

Not at all. Amazon is a big seller of shoes and frequently has the best price as well.

I tend to stay with shoes that are sold by Amazon so I can enjoy the free shipping and return. If it is not sold by Amazon, you need to pay more attention to return policy and shipping charges and so forth like Linda said.

What Author Linda said! I do indeed buy shoes from Amazon, Zappos and Nordstroms. These three tend to be my main online shoe source as returns are easy and free. Given how hard it can be to buy shoes, I need to be able to return them if they don't work.

As Author Linda noted, Amazon as the seller is easy to return to, other sellers may or may not be.

I buy shoes from Amazon all the time (and 6pm, and Zappos) but only known brands. I'm guessing you should be fine if you check the return policy carefully.

Thank you ladies so much for your reassurance I feel like I have a bajillion questions that probably seem so trivial and unimportant to other people and I'm really happy to have found a spot to ask them! I'm going to try very hard not to clog up the forums with everything all at once!

I love when I can find shoes on Amazon, but a lot of times they don't have my size available. When they do it is always a good deal, and better price for the same thing at other places.

I too find shoe selection in local stores poor. Sometimes I get lucky at Marshalls, but that is about all. Places like TJ Maxx and Nordstroms Rack have so many styles and so many more shoes on line than they do in the stores. I am lucky I can buy on line and return to the stores if they have to be returned. I buy from Zappos and 6 Pm occasionally too.

The photos of the shoes you posted are adorable, especially the blue with the black bows. Similar shoes are on Mod Cloth -lots of cute unusual shoes. I have never bought from them, but I think they have free returns too-may want to check them out.

If I find a brand at Amazon I am not familiar with I research the brand and most of the time find the same brands other places, but mostly not the same shoes. Mod Cloth does not post the brands, but sometimes you can see them if you enlarge the photos -usually they are the same shoes sold elsewhere under different brands or you can find the same ones.

I think you could find similar shoes at Modcloth. It can be hit and miss at Amazon but I do shop there a lot.

Sometimes if you like a shoe you've researched elsewhere, and you can't find your size, Amazon will have it. Most of the shoes on 6PM show up there ... but if you have Amazon (prime anyway) you will get the quick ship and free returns if you make the order through Amazon.

I shop at Modcloth a LOT (probably way more than any normal person should haha I'm wearing some of their shoes right now I just realized), so this was my attempt at branching out for more options. I hadn't thought of trying to sleuth my way around to discover which specific brands they carry though. Thanks for the idea!

I try NOT to support amazon , both the .ca and the.com sites, because of their business practices and employee wage/working conditions and policies. But I can be political like that It started because of the industry I work in (book publishing) being hurt by amazon's practices, and then I decided not to support the company at all. The ease of ordering and retiring sure makes it tempting though!

UmmLila - thanks for the tip about 6pm. I shop there often and it's a good idea to always check Amazon (I do have Amazon prime).

I buy shoes from whatever outlet can fit my very fussy feet. That ranges from Amazon.com to Nordstrom. If I find shoes that fit and look good, they are coming home with me.

Amazon is a great place to shop for shoes...if you are truly buying through Amazon. Other smaller retailers use Amazon as their storefront and handle the sale and shipping completely on their own....There are some variations of sellers on Amazon. I can only vouch for buying directly from Amazon. We shop so much that we have "prime" Super fast and easy. Making returns is super easy too. They email me with progress of the return item and accurately email me with the amount that is being credited back to my card.

I do it all of the time. One caveat, make sure it is from Amazon for the return policy or make sure the company you are purchasing through takes returns.

Another Amazon fan for shoes here. I always look on there before ordering from other places. I have found shoes there cheaper several times. Also, as someone mentioned before, 6pm.com sells through Amazon. I'm a 6pm fan and if I find something I like there, I check to see if they have it listed on Amazon. I'll buy through Amazon because of free returns with prime membership. Returns to 6pm are not free.

I hope not, because I do it! Now that I have a very clear understanding of what shoes work for me it's worth the effort...I have very fussy bunion adorned feet!

Amazon owns Zappos..the best in shoe buying...I shop Amazon for everything and have bought shoes there...You can't go wrong...
