Angie's bog post on frumpy looks today made me think of proportions and how hard it is sometimes to find the right mix of tucking vs. untucking the shirt, skirt vs. pants, etc. It is also sometimes a specific piece that I find hard to style to look right.

Here are a few pictures I took through a recent transformation.

#1 made me feel incredibly frumpy.
#2 was an improvement, but the proportions still didn't look right.
#3&4 felt reasonable to get out of the door. I felt more in my element, but I had to give up the idea of wearing that skirt. I actually got rid of it that day since I noticed it is the skirt that made me feel frumpy.

Do you ever have a specific item that looks right on paper, but doesn't make you feel good when you wear it? How do you judge if it is a specific garment or how you style it is the problem? Or is it always about styling?
