After Downtown Abbey finished its season a few weeks back, I decided to give "Mr. Selfridge" a go. It's the story of businessman/department store mogul Harry Selfridge and how he went about setting up the department store chain in London at the turn of the century.

It's a little predictable as far as plot goes, but the glimpse into early marketing and retail fashion is really fun. The idea of putting cosmetics on display in the front of the store, for example, was actually considered "scandalous" at the time.
