Amazon Prime is *totally* worth it. I get "free" shipping throughout the US all year long - this means I can send gifts to family all over the place, without worrying about shipping costs. I can also ordering something simple like Neutrogena Oil-Free eye-makeup remover at like 10pm at night, knowing it'll be at my doorstep two days later. That eye-makeup remover will be less expensive than anywhere else in town, and I get it shipped to my house within two days.
I've ordered TV's, cameras, computers, books, household items, clothing - you name it. Service has been absolutely stellar. I've gotten price adjustments, good advice when I asked a question about a product and so on. I *love* Amazon.
I ordered a fancy Samsung flat-screen TV a few years back - and got stellar delivery service. The guy came into my living room, unpacked it all, set it all up and made sure it was working before taking away all of the packing materials and so on.
Run out of coffee and don't have time to shop? Order from Amazon. Want a few new baking pans and parchment paper? Order from Amazon. Need an emergency pair of comfortable sandals in advance of a big-deal vacation? Order from Amazon.
Just last month, I ordered some sandals from Amazon (they had the best price), and they arrived the very next day (not two days, but in one day)...in pristine condition. Unfortunately, they were a bit too wide on my foot. No problem-o. I just logged into Amazon and looked at my orders, and clicked that I wanted to return the sandals. From there, I was prompted to print a free return label. Stuck the return label on the box and dropped it off at my local UPS store. You know what? When I got home from the UPS store (half an hour later), there was already an e-mail from Amazon that they had processed my return and were crediting my credit card. Apparently, just receiving the scanned in item at the UPS store was enough for them to refund me. There was no waiting until they got the parcel. Amazing!!!
I have family in Colorado, California, Arizona, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. All of the gifts I send to them are "free" two-day shipping with the Prime membership. Well worth it to me.
If you order ten things a year (for yourself or for gifts to anywhere in the US), then the Prime membership is totally worth it. It helps a whole lot that they have pretty much everything and have really good prices too.
By the way, if you ever want something overnighted - you can get 'one day' shipping for just $3.99 if you're a 'Prime' member. Something else that comes in handy when you've almost forgotten someone's birthday or need something sent to you or a friend/family member ASAP.
Don't forget to sign up for My Habit - Amazon's 'flash sale' site. You'll get two-day shipping from there as well.
