Irritated by Gap return policy...

I ordered the really skinny pants in black that Aida has... with two rewards cards and a discount code they came out to $11! In any case, I should have asked Aida about sizing because I need a different size, so I called to arrange an exchange. Well, LO AND BEHOLD, they can't just do an even exchange. I get my rewards back, but not for two billing cycles, and if I want an exchange I have to pay full price for the correct size.

I was so irked that I decided to just return the pants and not bother getting the correct size. The agent told me I am not the only person with this issue and said she would put it in my "feedback".

If you have a Gap card, keep this dumb policy in mind!

You are not the only person, I had practically the same conversation with them a couple of days ago.

That is annoying but at least they updated the rewards policy to points. In the past if you returned something you would just lose the rewards points. They were sued over it about 5 years ago and they changed the policy at that time.

Really? Well, I don't shop with them that much, but if I did I would expect better than that. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone!

Oh! Sorry to hear this Una I'm guessing you found you needed to size up? I ordered 2 sizes but in petites (which I rarely do) and found that they ran really small; the larger of the 2 sizes fit though a touch snug, and I ALMOST didn't even order it because I figured my normal size would work! Would it have been an option to exchange for the other size at a store? I've done this with sale items from them before, but I don't use a GAP card.

Aida copied me - I think? And I sized *down* in the black Real Skinnies. I was very happy with the length.

I was going to suggest returning them to a store as well.

On a brighter note Una, every time you get frustrated about the US return policy, be thankful that you are not trying to exchange clothing in Asia or Europe! Us US residents are very spoiled with the return policy luxuries here :). On the other hard, the lenient return policies here do bite you in the bottom when you find yourself in a constant spiral of returning.

Aida, yes, I had to size up! I could squeeze into the 4P but it was not a pretty sight.

Happy ending: I went to my local Gap store, where they had 6A in stock. That worked well enough, and the clerk just rung it up as an exchange because she was sweet!

Angie, I know I shouldn't complain. I just don't like surprises like that...

Yep, I did copy you Angie Those were the exact black pants I have been looking for for a long time now, but interesting that you had to size down. Perhaps the petites were running smaller than normal? Like I said, I have never bought (or even tried I think) petite sizes at the GAP because the rise/seat is always too small for me. Una, that's good to know that you found the ankle length at the store; I think I may have to try my local gap and see if I can find a 4A instead of the 4P.
