At one time we had six cats and one dog, all rescued. Three of them joined us when a neighbor's barn cat deposited her kittens on our roof. They have all died except one, Jasmine, who is now 19 1/2 years old. Every night we give her fluids by injection to keep her going. We've done this for 2 1/2 years now. She is a Siamese mix.
We now live in the city and are limited to three pets. After our last roof cat died two years ago we adopted two black kittens from the animal shelter. We were going to adopt one, but we found out that people are still superstitious and won't take black cats. We said we'd take two. These two, Jett and Sharkie, are about 2 months apart. Sharkie is the male, named after a certain hockey mascot, and Jett the female.
It took some time for Jasmine to get used to the kittens, but they have revived her.
Jett has the round green eyes, Sharkie the yellow "Robert Mitchum eyes." Now they are grown they are sometimes hard to tell apart.
