Interview Outfit for Nordstrom (pic)

I have an interview at Nordstrom for a sales position (probably in women's apparel). I'm not sure what to wear, but this is what I think that I will wear:

Hi AlexSue! You look fantastic and the dress is adorable, but I wonder if it seems a bit unprofessional? Having never applied for a job at Nordstrom or the like I don't know what style of dress is acceptable, but the dress itself sends more of a "fun and cute" message rather than "hard working and professional" to me. Everything else seems spot on to me though. Maybe a dress with simpler details or has a more subtle pattern/solid color?

But that could just be me! Let's see what the other ladies here have to say. Either way I'm sure you'll look fabulous and nail it! Good luck!

I do hope we get some Nordie-interview experts to chime in here.

I have to agree with Oneirix- my first reaction was fun, cute dress, but not a professional look. Is there something more streamlined, maybe a dark skirt if you don't have a suit?

Seems a bit too fun for the interview (but fine for work depending on department). Nordy's sales associates tend to dress on the "classic" side which is admittedly boring but seems to be their look.
I'd look in closet for a simpler bottom and rev it up with accessories.

I love that dress (and the whole outfit really), but I agree that it is not a professional look. The plaid and ruffled hem are too much. I don't think you have to be super classic or boring (in fact I wonder if that would be a detriment), but this dress seems too casual.

You look absolutely adorable! Great outfit.

However, for Nordies, you need to step up the dressy factor, especially for an interview. But nothing conservative. This is a retail fashion interview and you shall have to look the part – modestly of course.

Thanks guys! Your feedback is really helpful, as this is my first real interview.

I'm not sure how "serious" to dress (I'm only 17, so I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard to appear mature). I do have a high-waisted pencil skirt (in gray) that might work if I can find an appropriate blouse to match it with. I'll try some more outfits on and maybe take pics : )

The pencil skirt sounds great! If you have a blouse in a pop color I bet it would look fantastic, like a cobalt or something. Clean, but definitely fashion forward. Good luck!

Yes! Great skirt and blouse- with jewelry, I think this will work.

Don't worry about looking like you're trying too hard- in job interviews people expect you to put in the effort. One of the deciding factors in who gets the job.
