Intel on GAP'S Resolution jeans?

There's been a whole lotta jean discussion lately - Angie's post on premium denim and Suz 's wonderful display of various denims. GAP jeans work really well for me, and I see they've added a new fabric 'resolution stretch' to their arsenal. Has anyone tried or purchased jeans in this fabrication? If so - what are your thoughts?

Perhaps you can link to the styles you're referring to, Susan. Is there MORE stretch?

I have a pair with the new fabric blend (not the Resolution, but same fabric content percentages) -- they are ok, but I do miss the 98% cotton ones. I find the denim is getting thinner.

I do want to try out the Resolutions though!

Am I the only person on the planet that LIKE thinner denim? I will definitely be giving these a try! Gap does fit me well AND I like thin denim. Thanks for the heads up!

I am loving the new stretch fabrications that Gap is doing. They are super comfortable to wear, they move with you, and they aren't stretching out on me. I prefer them to my 98% cotton jeans. Yes, they are thinner but that doesn't bother me. FYI....I wear jeans almost daily and Gap is my current go to.

They are a mid rise and the rise is fairly high....higher than some mid rises. I'm petite but rarely wear petite jeans preferring a regular short. However the rise on the regulars didn't work for me and gave me wicked muffin top. The petites are perfect on these. Nice and smooth through the mid-section.

I also got these Stretch and Recovery legging jeans.....I've never worn leggings before! But, they are insanely comfortable and flattering. I'm slightly addicted to them. I love them with a loose pullover. (And yes, they do come with a weird smell as noted in reviews....probably the dye. But I find that it is dissipating with time and I love them enough to overlook it.)

I tried the resolutions in the dark wash. Liked the wash, liked the fabric, liked the fit from front & side, but the rear-view on me was atrocious. The pockets were placed very low & wide, not flattering at all. I take one of their smallest petite sizes, and to me it looked like Gap didn't adjust their standard pocket size to account for the fact that there's less real estate back there to work with.

Thanks for the feedback ladies! I think I'll give them a try on next time I am near a store. I'm ok with thinner denim ( I hear you Kate!) but am concerned about higher rise (thanks for this info Marilyn) and the rear view for pocket placement (thanks Cobalt). I like the drape of my sweaters when semi tucked with a mid to low rise. If the rise is too high, I feel the proportion is off.

Matilyn - how is the stretch factor? Do they bag out or hold their shape?

Blast. They put polyester into the denim. Can be itchy. Not as crisp. Bags out unless you can really fill out the shape. I like 100% cotton denim, or a 1% stretch.

I've not had great luck with Gap denim -- seems to zig where I zag and zag where I zig.

Angie: Love the "really fill out the shape." Yep. That I can do!

My DD just got a pair with the same fabric content in the GAP Perfect Bootcut. She loves them!

I have been wearing their Long and Lean (buy them online), but unfortunately cut out the tags so I don't know what they are.

Shoot - doesn't sound too promising. I envy your curves Beth Ann, cause I've definitely got no bass, I must be all treble. I still plan to handle/try on the merchandise next time I'm at the mall.

I will try them on when I can, thanks for the heads up. I'm in the minority and like thin denim and lots of extra stretch. I have trouble with any zippered/button pant making me feel nauseous after only an hour, and am unable to sit or eat in them. I call them "standing pants" when I did wear them. However, my hubby got me a pair of jeans for Christmas from American Eagle Outfitters of all places. I'm 39yrs old and wouldn't have stepped foot in that store. Well, I LOVE the jeans. They are high rise skinnies with a similar fabric content as these that you are posting. And they are actually skinny enough to to LOOK like skinnies on me, which is unheard of. Skinny legs, flat butt, short waisted, straight body (which means my waist is large in proportion to my bottom half). Anyways, next time I'm around a Gap I'll be sure to go in!

FYI.....I tried the 1969 Resolution True Skinny Jean in over dark wash today. The rise is even higher than on the 1969 Resolution Slim Straight in dark wash. The True Skinny came to my belly button in petite....really bad look. The Slim Straight in petite is about an inch below my belly button and more flattering.
Not sure why they are marketing these as mid-rise. They are high rise IMO. They are much higher than their legging jeans that are marked as mid-rise.

Beth Ann, I am seconding Angie on her comment, you have a beautiful shape and you zig and zag in all the right places!

The GAP's got such a great assortment of jean, don't they Lara! Most of mine are 99% cotton 1% spandex , I suspect your long and leans might be similar.

Hah Pottergrl - our motto is to leave no retail store unturned! How incredible that your hubby was able to gift you with a pair of jeans that you love! Amazing!! I'll be interested to know what you think.

Thanks for providing a few more details Marilyn. I've noticed this more and more - that the medium rise is pretty high! I have a long torso, but I still like a lowish rise. Seems we are trending upwards tho.....

I am low rise girl as well. The trend back towards high rise is worrying me. It takes me back to the 70's and 80's with my jeans strangling my waist. Low rise jeans were a Godsend for me.

I like thinner denim for the warmer months. I also like denim that has a % of poly. I have very sensitive skin, and poly has never made me itch. I think I'll take a look at the Gap jeans this coming weekend, as MLK Day is a holiday.
