Expectations vs reality

I am posting this just for laughs. I was curious about those BR carrot pants that Angie showed us and ordered them when they went on sale. Well, you know those photos where you have beautiful inspiration photo and failed reality one? Here is mine

Anchie, I think you're being very hard on yourself. I don't see a "failed reality" photo because the pants fit you well. They could stand a little steaming/pressing to remove some of the wrinkling.

I don’t love them but they are not awful on you. They don’t have the same volume as Angie’s but a size up might create that? But I suspect that the waist and butt area may be shapeless then so probably not worth it.

You have some great pants so no need to compromise.

I like them too! The look on you is not as dramatic, but I actually think that might give them more longevity for you??? Of course, as Angie says, YOU have to like them....

They look a bit wrinkly is all, and the colour is a little different. Otherwise they look just as good on you!

The pants fit you and look good but we always need that "love it!" feeling to truly enjoy the piece of clothing. Maybe more outfits to play around those pants or maybe just let them go back.

Thank you for the feedback. I am not despairing, I thought it is funny how different they turned out to be from the expectations. Thay are wrinkly mess, but I also felt wierd in them, like something not ok with proportions. I could not put my finger on it, that is why I was comparing the fit, are they too short maybe? They are offered in 3 lengths, I may got the wrong size. Too late to check for that now, because I already sent them back. Which is fortunate because you guys are such a good enablers and I may have changed my mind after reading your positive comments:)

I think these feel off to you because you’re used to more fitted styles around the hips. That and of course the wrinkles from packaging :). You can pull these off but make sure you like them on you. I once owned a pair of carrot pants, wore them with some regularity but the self-consciousness of drawing attention to the hip area never went away... It’s just not me.

You're so funny Anchie! But I agree that these look great on you ... Nothing a steamer and potentially a size up wouldn't fix!

Agree, no disaster at all but maybe not all the planets are in line. It’s maybe a crisper fabric which is hard to get right with pleats and volume.
Also, I have a lot harder time with fit with light-colored pants, which show every crease and bump. A real HEWI to find those that fit.
When I run into some of these issues, I often try to re- read articles and advice about personal style, signature style and review my existing items— not to be stagnant, but to see if I’m reaching for a new look I really want or if I’m being drawn into things that take me farther away, and just to take off the pressure, IYKWIM.

I think they look fine. What's the problem? The need to be ironed, but other than that, they look good!

I think they looked great! Anytime you compare yourself in something to someone with a different body type wearing the same thing there will be differences, but different doesn't mean bad! I did find them slightly short in a less-than-intentional way, but otherwise I think they look great.

I am really surprised at all the positive feedback. Maybe photos don’t tell the full story? Or maybe my eye needs to adjust to new proportions? To me it looked very unbalanced, like my top and bottom half belong to two different people. And I didn’t like the length. But I felt similar when I first tried on wide leg crops and now they are my favorite.

Fair enough I am very impressed with how many languages you can speak. I just did truly think you looked good in the pants but you have to feel it yourself right?!

Jenni, I think I am late adopter, it takes long time for me to accept new silhouette. I remember hating skinnies and refusing to wear them until they were almost on the way out. I also never accepted long over lean or oversized clothing.

My initial impression was that they're fine, if a little more fitted on you than in Angie. A size up would give the more relaxed fit. If you didn't love them, sending them back was a good call
