insoles-removable?

Has anyone ever had a shoe repair shop removed insoles (in non removable insoles) and inserted their orthotics? There are so few shoes in wide width with removable insoles options I am wondering if this could be done and successfully worn?

I’ve done this myself in tennis shoes with non removable insoles (it takes a bit of time and patience to remove the glued insert) but not dress shoes.

Same as delurked. If it’s a thick, padded, glued-in insole, I pull it out carefully and see if my full length orthotics fit. But my experience is that most leather shoes just have a thin piece of leather as the insole, glued solidly to the structural midsole material, and pulling it out wouldn’t really create space for an orthotic.

Same as above. But I did get a dress shoe orthotic to wear with dress shoes- it’s much thinner, less bulky and fits better in shoe. Not sure removing a permanent factory insole would help maintain shoe but don’t know that for a fact

Njw - I have dress orthotics 3/4 Length which fit most regular shoes. Same as above sneaker you can tease out otherwise did you try going up 1/2 size to accommodate?
