Inexpensive dress - YouLookFab Forum

Just arrived --this dress from Nords Rack--Have 3 holiday events starting the first week in December. None will be dressy, but not jeans casual either. Since there were no events last year I decided I would get at least one new item this year. First searched for a midi skirt as I have a few nice sweaters. Then looked at dresses. Just browsing around--found this dress and decided to give it a try. It is labeled ivory, but it is really more just white..On me it is a little longer than on the model as I am short. I am actually happy with its color and it is a great fit and length. I have black heeled booties, tan heeled booties, a white furry jacket, a black velvet blazer, and a hunter green blazer. So I think I can make it work for this holiday season. any styling ideas would be appreciated.

Oh what a lovely dress. If it hangs lower for you - that is so much the better. More modern. Accompanying pieces with texture, like your velvet blazer, are the way I’d go. I’d also be contemplating a fuzzy white scarf…

It looks very pretty! What is the fabric? Is it a knit or woven? I cannot see it on my screen. In any case, lovely cut and colour. It will be very versatile. I love white in winter.

Looks very nice and sounds like you have the pieces to make several party looks. I especially likie the idea of hunter green with it.

The neckline looks perfect for necklaces - either bold or delicate. Or bright scarves?

Looks like a great holiday dress—so many things you could do with it. A theme and colors for each event. I haven’t been to a real party for so long that I don’t remember how to begin.

Would look lovely with the hunter green topper, but I think all would work. Black booties/ tights/ velvet blazer would look more formal, but tan booties/ white fur jacket would dress it down a little.

As for the events, maybe you could add an accessory to make it look different each time? Like maybe some dangly tassel earrings, then a blingy bag, & then shoe clips on your booties? Could also do a metallic belt or some patterned tights instead

This looks like the perfect LWD. It’s the basic blank canvas that you can style in so many ways.....fancy earrings or necklace, a great scarf, cropped jacket with texture, any of the items you have mentioned from your wardrobe. Endless possibilities!

Katerina--it is a sweater dress, but not thick and kinda different as it almost looks like a woven-not much saretch.

What a great dress! I would vary the textures as one does with black. And add sparkly snowflake earrings.

I love the idea of a winter white-out with your fuzzy jacket! Wear silver jewelry and work in whatever other whites you can. You’ll be dazzling

Ps. MsMaven probably has the best idea—a different look for each event.
So maybe blinding white at one, sharp black/white contrast with the boots, etc at another, and happy colors at the third. Plan them all out in advance, so you can match them up to each event.

I like it! You can swap out the belt too. Pretty with your silver hair.

One more thought - I don't know if you have it in your wardrobe, but I think ivory/white looks very nice at holiday time with deep juicy ruby colors.

Pretty dress. White always looks delicious and particularly glamorous in winter. Versatile style and colour, can be styled with lots of different items and colours. Will probably be great for spring too.
