In search of a white button-down shirt

I'd love to invest in a white button-down shirt. All the ones I've tried on have been so sheer that they require a cami underneath. Is it possible to find one that works with a nude bra? It's hot here! I'm thinking semi-fitted; not a "big shirt", but not super slim, as I'll want to layer it sometimes. Where should I look?

Worn here IRL with a nude or pink bra under. Can barely even see where my black jeans are underneath!

Have you tried Brooks Brothers or Foxcroft? They are pretty thick, but I think that Angie advises wearing a white cami under any white shirt for a more polished look. The white looks more white and crisp.

I have one from jcrew that isn't too sheer - and another from Gap that also is good but it's a little too "crisp" in the fabric for me (I like really super soft shirts). It's way too hot here to wear a cami under a shirt unless it's deep winter.

Thanks for the tips. There is an outlet mall with a Gap Outlet, Banana Republic Outlet, and J. Crew Factory that I've been meaning to check out. Maybe they'll have something. If not, I will use a coupon code to try the Gap white shirt, unless J. Crew has a great sale! (I'd prefer to pay more like $30-$40.)
I know a white shirt will look better with a cami underneath, but I don't want to feel like I HAVE to wear a cami all the time, especially if I'm going to wear a scarf or something with it.
