In Love ....

I found this beautiful winter jacket online (ModCloth); and I'm positively smitten with it - it is marked as 70% wool and 30% poly - the only thing that makes me hesitate about buying it.

I had a cheap wool jacket once and I itched to high heaven! This jacket isn't -that- cheap (the other one was $30), but it is marked down to $125 (from $170).

Has anyone had experiences with this kind of blend before?

PS: Can't wait to wear it with my new hat (#2)!!!

Is it lined? I would not be fearful of this jacket because of the itch factor. I cannot tolerate wool next to my body but a coat is something you layer over your clothes so it should be fine. I think the poly will help with the drape as well as add some softness, it will also reduce the itchiness potential by 30%!! It's a beautiful coat that would suit your style to a tee. Perfect for all your dresses:-)

Poly-wool isn't as luxurious as all-wool, in one sense, but it's all in the type of wool and the blend and weave--if it has nice drape and feels nice that's what counts. The poly won't make it itchy per se. Some all-wool coats in not-so-good wool fabrics are quite stiff and itchy or look cheap.

My favorite coat is flared and it's not of such good composition as yours. But, it's of acceptable quality.

And I love wearing it with cloche hats

It's gorgeous, Lyn. It could be great quality or could be lousy...it's impossible to tell just from the proportions of the blend. I can really see it on you, though.

Fabulous style for you lyn - I mean, c'mon...it's a twirly coat! Being lined is a huge bonus. As Suz has pointed out, you really can't tell the quality until it's in your hands. If the return policy is decent and affordable, it could be worth a try.
