In COS dressing room

First time trying on something in a COS store. Not sure what to think. Very different than my usual that is sure. But flattering enough? Not sure.
Not having much luck with fall winter pants shopping and I am down to 3 pairs.

Fit looks good and I love that color! I like the navy blouse with them.

What shoes would you wear? I’m no expert on length but they look like they could be shortened? Are the supposed to be cropped?

Not quite sure about the length yet - hard to judge from these pics. Will depend on shoes too. But easy fix if they need a hack.

Would wear them with heeled booties. They do slightly pull around the pockets, but don’t think size up would help since they are already loose at the waist and no belt loops.

FWIW, the fit looks good to me. They will loosen after a few hours too.

I think these look great and fit perfect. I usually have a strong emotional reaction to COS items when I try them on — it’s love or hate (usually includes laughter or a raised eyebrow). If you love them, get them, but if indifferent or you think you’ll need to work too hard to work with them, then leave them behind.

I do love them but feel little out of my comfort zone. Didn’t get them but will return tomorrow with the appropriate shoes to try again.

I would take them home, but usually when you buy something in stores here it is not easy to return. Sometimes you only get store credit, in some stores you can return only if it has some defect, and in very short time frame etc. Once they did a sniff test on something I tried to return, it was sooo embarrassing. But I should have checked COS return policy, maybe it is not that bad. I forgot about that option.

They are outside of my comfort zone too, and I wouldn't classify them as flattering in the usual way. But - they are new and interesting looking, and seem to fit you well. How much wear do you think they'd get? Work AND casual? Or work only?

I just can't deal with all of that stiffish fabric around my legs- and sacrificing flattery just for fashion's sake doesn't interest me anymore. Just my own thoughts tho....

lisa p - great questions. I have the same concerns. I am not looking for trendy pants. I have navy, black and plaid pair at the moment. I was looking for somethings different than that, preferably something in color like burgundy, rust, mustard, even red. And you wouldn’t believe how difficult that is. There are so many black, navy and plaid pants. If I manage to find something in a color I am looking for, then they are always also in a trendy shape.

Dude, you really can wear anything. Those look great on you, and with that blouse. What else would you wear them with? They aren’t what I usually think of as your colors.

I’m on board with the wide leg pants trend, but struggling a bit with finding the right pair FOR ME, and have returned 3 pair so far (1 x jeans, and 2 x black). I’ve determined that a) I want a flat front (vs pleats) since it is a better look for me (and my tummy) and b) NO BLACK. I’m completely off black anything at the moment.

I want to experiment with 1 good pair of wide legs (once I find them) before going wild on the style. I think it is going to take a while to get physically used to the feel of all that extra fabric, and it will probably take a while for the eye to get used to it as well. 12-18 months from now we will either ALL be sporting wide legged pants or wondering ‘WHAT WAS I THINKING.’

FWIW, if I was still in the world of work, I would be looking for a pair just like the ones you tried on.

I have one workhorse top from COS; I have purchased a couple of other things but not worn them at all. The challenge is the out-of-comfort-zone thing - it feels exciting in the moment but then never quite feels like me. YMMV. If the fabric is really stiff, I'd pass - I think the wide leg in this color will be easy to find elsewhere and more comfortably.
