In Austin, anything I should look for?

Arrived last night and brought the Seattle weather with me. But it's supposed to warm up and it better because I brought three pairs of sandals.
So the big shop is not till Saturday. But is there anything I should look for in the shops?
I've already decided that I should NOT buy any shorts because I have plenty to get me through the short Seattle summer.
I was thinking a sassy sweatshirt. And then there's overalls

Allen's Boots on South Congress has an amazing collection of Cowboy boots.

Uncommon Objects also on South Congress has fun junk (not clothes)....

South Congress is generally a good place to wander and shop.

If you go to By George (the downtown location), it is very close to a tiny but fun shoe shop, Stella Says Go (500 N Lamar Blvd).....

If you have time to go to San Marcos, which is south of Austin halfway to San Antonio, there are two outlet centers side by side to each other.

My BFF and I used to spend a weekend shopping there, but now it's gotten so big that a weekend isn't enough time anymore! We even stayed at a hotel across the highway to save on driving time.

Oh, I didn't really answer your question as to what to shop for. Hmmm.. do you have any wardrobes holes in the clutch department? I don't remember any of your posts on bags and purses.

Flip flops? (just kidding) They are so common in Austin though.

I seriously think Allen's Boots on S. Congress is a good suggestion - not to mention just an interesting area of town to see but it's mostly vintage/resale with a few new ones cropping up.

It's all a new town since I've moved away - have fun!

There is really nothing in Austin you can't buy elsewhere (says the displaced NYC snob.)

On S. Congress, I like By George and Heritage Boot. Uncommon Objects is very fun but pricey for Austin (in my experience).

Downtown on 2nd street are a number of fun boutiques.

On Burnet I like Spring Frost.

Anna, the clothes in the two By George locations are different. The Lamar store (across from Whole Foods, near Stella Says Go) is bigger and more high end. The South Congress store is more casual and less expensive. You probably need to go to both, ha!

Austin has one of the best sushi restaurants anywhere -- Uchi -- worth a visit if you love sushi!

Oh, if you go to the Lamar By George, check out Bookpeople, across the street one block down. One of the best independent bookstores in the country! And I know you have Whole Foods where you are, but the Lamar one is pretty spectacular if you're into food. It's the showcase store for the company.
