WIW: In a tropical mood. Need advice on cropped pants length, please.

I've been pretty much MIA lately: very busy, and then fell and broke my elbow a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I don't have a cast, but it has slowed me down a bit.

Anyway, I was in a summery tropical mood today, and this is WIW to my granddaughter's end-of-year program at kindergarten. (very low-key and casual, obviously)

Question: How is the length of these pants? I don't think I quite have the knack for figuring out the ideal cropped pants length yet, but it has been quite hot here, so I didn't really want to wear long pants.

I also suppose that the ankle strap sandals are somewhat leg-shortening, but I like them anyway. I love the happy green color!

Bonus pic: it's a great day for my convertible, so I had to break out the straw fedora.
The whole outfit pretty much screams "Hawaiian tourist", but it made me happy.

This outfit is perfect!! I love those green sandals. What a great find. I am very petite. For me, I would probably roll the pants one hem length just to get a little more lower leg length. I don't think it's absolutely necessary for you.

Marcy, this really is FABulous! I'm looking for a Hawaiian shirt myself! I think your cropped pants are perfect and the ankle cuff on your sandals is terribly cool and on trend. LOVE how the green plays off the print in your shirt, too. I wouldn't change a thing!

I have to confess that I wore these pants today just folded under to the pictured length, since I wasn't sure about it. I guess now I can actually hem them to that length!

Thanks, Christieanne and Suz for your comments about my elbow. It's doing MUCH better after just two weeks, and I'm able to use it more every day. The first week was a bit rough, because of course it's my right arm, and I do need the use of my arms for my work. Thank goodness for Aleve! It's great stuff.

You look great - very summery and chic! One question: I have a convertible too but only wear ball caps because I'm afraid anything else will fly off. Do you have any tips for keeping your hat on while driving , or have I just been paranoid all these years ?

Nadya, I've never lost a hat while driving my convertible, but I do wear them pulled down fairly snugly on my head.
I like more of a brim than a baseball cap to keep the sun off, but I have to look for ones with a small back brim or it bumps into the headrest.

I hope you elbow heals quickly: I broke an elbow too many years ago and still feel weather changes in it
I think these cropped pants are slim enough and low contrast enough to work. I am no cropped pant expert at all but I have a feeling that ankle strap with this length throws proportions off a bit. If they were longer and finish just above the ankle strap (like Jonesy often has) they would work better for my eye. Sandals without an ankle strap or lower contrast would work for me too.
However Angie has spoken and you can disregard my opinion completely now

I think this outfit is gorgeous, and the green shoes are TDF!! I will never be able to get into my head the 'right' length for cropped pants, but you look great.

Sorry about your elbow - ouch I have chronic tennis elbow in my right elbow, and I know how limiting it is.
