Anna went to Venice today and somehow got separated from the girls in the tour group. She is lost in Venice by herself. The number the tour gave her for emergencies is not working. She has finally found another student from John Cabot that is not on the tour but is helping her. I just want her back in her apt in Rome. I have never been so scared.

I'm posting to keep from wearing my floor out.

Hugs, Debbie! What a worry for a mom to be so far away and helpless! Venice isn't really very big, so she should be able to find them. Would they leave without her? Does she know when they will leave? Maybe she should go directly to the train station. I once thought I'd lost a young teen son on the London Underground one night when he didn't get off at our stop. I feel your panic.

Well now I can't get her on her cell. Why do they call you if they are not going to keep in touch with you.

Finally got her. A student from the same school is going to get her back to where she needs to be. She should fine. Thanks for listening.

My heart was pounding as I read your post Debbie, I can imagine what you must be going through! (HUGS) I'm glad you are able to keep in touch with her. I know you won't be at peace till she reaches her apartment but thank goodness she found someone to take her home!

She is safe her bus was canceled and she will not get back to Rome until tomorrow. She is in a hostel with 2 girls and a guy she knows from.
The tour company will get a piece of my mind. Thank-you

Few things in life worse than being separated from a loved one:( glad she is ok...It will take you a couple of days to recover!!

Debbie - how terrifying! It sounds like it is slowly getting straightened out - thank goodness! You have my total understanding as I my own 20-y.o. daughter spent the last 5 months in Europe and we went through a few periods where we lost contact with her and my mom worry genes would go into overdrive. And there is really nothing we could do from here. . .

I am so relieved for you. Was she worried at all, or traumatized?

Anna is doing better this afternoon she was scared and crying. Once she ran into some kids she knew that were on the tour but another bus. She was fine. I'm grateful for the boy because he took charge got the girls in a hostel tonight and rebooked for noon tomorrow.

She is suppose to go to Prague next weekend with the same tour group. I don't know iif I can take it.

She is back in Rome safe in her own apt. After the panic I think this was a good learning experience for both of us.

Debbie, I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is back safe in her own apartment! We also had an emergency when our oldest was studying abroad, and I know first hand how awful it must have felt to be so far away. On the plus side, your daughter has had an opportunity to manage a very serious situation on her own and has come through it with flying colors. They amaze you with their resilience, don't they?
