I only do on line ordering from ON . The stores make me crazy . A good friend was sporting a pair of chunky cream loafers the other day - from Marshall’s , lol. I’ll have to get over there soon and give it another go.

Well these look like very practical and versatile impulse buys to me ... Well done!

I really like both buys. The boots will be great as long as they are comfortable and the coat also. I couldn't have a coat that light though because I have a tendency to get outer wear dirty...probably the grimy dirty puddles in the rainy area I live in. An olive coat also sounds nice.

I only order online from ON, too, FWIW, and usually only when I'm buying something for my kid -- i'll throw in something for myself to get free shipping.

Now I want to go to Marshalls. I just learned we have one here in town!!

Carol my first impression before glancing at the comments was that this is absolutely fabulous and one of my favorite looks of yours. Perhaps my eye has been Tibified but it did not occur to me that this was too oversized or swamp you at all. And I love the light color on you. And the boots. I didn't read most of the comments but thought it was worth throwing this out there first.

Sounds like a smart approach, Lisa and Suz -- I'll have to chew on the whole ON online order thing.

Marshall's is a bit of a treasure hunt, to be sure, but you just never know what you will find. I am 'this' close to keeping a pair of black Blondo lace up booties I found there a week ago. They are not walk all day perfect, but they are pretty perfect for occasions where I am not walking all day -- whether that be in the office, out to dinner, etc.

Thanks, Sally -- I am pretty optimistic about the boots!

I like them both! The coat is fun and I like the flowiness! And good winter boots are a necessity.

What Robinf said. Fun! And I am anxious to hear the verdict on those cool boots. Romika has worked well for me in the past; hoping they work for you too.

Thanks, Christel - I don't think I have ever tried on a pair of Romikas before, and these just jumped out at me. It's good to hear you had a good experience with them. The weather might soon cool down enough for me to give these a spin.

SO GLAD YOU FOUND BOOTS!!! Yay, happy feet. They look awesome with the jeans. KILLER look

I LOVE the colour of the topper with your hair. Make sure it's the right size.

Thank you, Angie! The boots aren't the "one boot to rule them all" but they're a nice dark brown (YAY!) and will give me a good alternative to my Blundstones in the shoulder seasons. Now I will know to keep an eye on this brand...

I'm with @rachylou - the cream colour in a sheer fabric with blouson sleeves gives me romantically soft vibes from the raincoat. I think that creates a nice juxtaposition with the boots (which are great btw - so hard to find comfy dark brown footwear in general these days!), but it's ultimately up to you whether that's the vibe you're going for?

Personally, even though it's meant to be a 'good' light neutral on me, I find cream surprisingly difficult to get 'right' on me - I usually end up going with 'nude' mustard or camel instead. Does that resonate with you?

Thanks, Zaeobi - I figured you'd appreciate the boots!

I know what you mean about creams -- some are mWAH! and some are meh. The green one I ordered should arrive in a couple of days and I'll see if I love the darker colour more -- or less -- than the cream.

The dropped shoulders and huge pockets are bothering me about the raincoat. I do think it's good to have either a light + a dark raincoat, for spring and fall, or a midtone that works either season.

Thanks, suntiger. I know the oversized look isn't for everyone. To me, the dropped sleeve is a selling feature -- fitted and tailored garments just don't work for my build - or not easily, anyway.

I like the idea of a midtone that spans seasons. Speaks to my practical side and the relatively limited seasons of use for such a garment where I live.

I like light colors for Fall days as it’s getting darker and darker…. DST just ended here, so sunset is around 4:30. Ugh. A doc course light colors are classic in springtime.

Update: The green jacket arrived this morning. No photo yet, and I might not take one. It's going back. I probably should have ordered the smaller size (XS/S) but I don't think of myself in the XS category, even for oversized items so I ordered M/L. I did consider ordering the size down after placing the original order, but by then it was totally sold out.

The colour is fine -- dark, muted green. Probably quite versatile. It has some features I prefer to the light one, and some I don't. I like that it has a placket to cover the zipper (better wind protection) and that the hood is reovable BUT it lacks a two way zipper, the sleeves aren't as interesting, and I don't like the pockets as well. It doesn't quite have the je ne sais quoi that I was hoping for.

Jury is still out on whether I will keep the beige one or keep hunting. It's not an urgent item so I can afford to wait.

Good to know, Carol, but disappointing! Thanks for the review of the green one. Useful for others to know.

FYI, it can take a while to adjust to the fact that you require a smaller size in items when your weight changes. Angie (gently) pointed out that I should consider sizing down in a couple of posts at a time when I was adapting to a weight and body composition change. I still have to make a conscious effort to order a smaller size than I think I am. 9 times out of 10, the smaller size is the better fit.

Good luck with your ongoing coat hunt, and congratulations on the health achievement.

Yes, Suz, a bit disappointing, but now I know, and so -- onward!!

Thanks, Carla! Sizing can still be all over the map for me -- mostly because I have the waist of a much larger person (especially after having put on a few stress pounds lately). But I should have known to go smaller with this item!

Now I just have to decide if the beige one is a keeper or if I will continue the hunt in the spring.
