imposter missoni sighting at Macy's

I saw an imposter missoni at Macy's today in the INC dept and thought it was pretty cute. I tried it on and it was pretty flattering overall, but it hung funny around my butt. I also couldn't help but wonder if I'd look like a poseur. Plus, I really wasn't out to buy anything, just killing time waiting for Target to fill a prescription.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked at these links and, even though I have been following the Missoni feeding frenzy at Target with great interest, I just can't get excited about Missoni-For-Me-Personally. So I am fascinated by it, but probably won't end up buying any of it. Does that ever happen to you...you get hot on the trail of something and then all of a sudden it just fizzles and dies. Hmm.

The first dress you've linked to is my favorite of the two - very cute! I've stayed away from the Missoni madness at Target...tried looking at a few things online but I have no patience when websites don't work!

I like both of these better than the Target stuff for myself. Seems like the neck would like me better and the colors are more sophisticated. Too bad I don't need more dresses...

INC does something like this every season it seems. I have one from a few seasons ago I need to try on and see if it fits...

The thing is, if there hadn't been this Target Missoni madness, I would have thought that was a cute dress and fun pattern, but after all this, it really makes me stop and think twice. I'm wondering if we're all gonna be ready to puke if we see another zig-zag stripe half way through the season.

I got a missoni-inspired dress from Espirit last year that I wore quite a bit. But I probably won't be wearing it this season since it will look like a faux-faux-missoni with all the target stuff floating around now.

I've been craving a "real" missoni piece for a couple years now but now since the target event, I have cooled on my craving. I wonder if this target collaboration will downgrade the whole designer line in general.

Love that first dress, the bell sleeves are fun and the zig zags seem easy on the eyes. Don't you have a similar dress Kim? So cute on you.

That first dress is great...love the purple and the cinched waistband. It looks nicer to me than the Missoni target dresses, LOL.

Yes Carole, I do have a similar dress... the same one Una showed us last week.

Okay, here i am trying it on.... But like I said, I wasn't looking to buy anything, and it is really too similar to my other one.

Pretty! Not fair that we don't have Missoni knock-offs here in Italy! I can't afford the real thing!

Maybe this is an 'Ask Angie' question, but
how exclusive is the 'Missoni' fabric ?

I bought a couple yards of a zig-zag, open weave purple/teal fabric at a warehouse known for carrying designer bolts.

I found the exact same fabric/same colorway used in an INC top at an outlet store.

Then I found the same fabric (different colorway) used in Missoni tops at Nordstrom

This is a fairly simple design,
SO- for $6/yard I can make a $1300 Missoni top!

(I know nothing of Missoni or designers, I just like the fabric).

That first one is in the latest Macy's catalog, which pleasantly surprised me - I earmarked several pages with the intention of checking them out. Haven't yet but hope to - and this dress is on my list for things to try on!
The INC line is interesting. Sometimes I feel totally "over-ruffled" in their section, but at other times I've found some great pieces.
