I stopped by the downtown mall yesterday on my way home to see if I could find a cornflower blue office shirt that I could replace my old, too-small one with (I couldn't). However, I did find some jeans I thought had promise. I've given the high-rise trend enough of a go to know that it can, with the right top, work for me. So I pulled out a couple of pairs of nice, lived-in looking high-rise jeans made of sturdy non-stretchy denim and with (importantly) no distressing. When I put them on, I realized they could only be described as mom jeans -- but they are soooo comfy, I didn't want to take them off!

Now, there are young girls all over the place at my art school rocking their mom jeans, and I'd always thought, well, that it works if you're young -- but not if you're an actual, middle-aged mother. But we'll see. I'm going to give it a try. I sized up so the jeans are really baggy, but the high rise prevents them from sliding down. I can't wear a belt with high-waisted pants, as it adds too much bulk in the wrong spot. I'm wearing them rolled up with a semi-tucked top and short boots (although I think they'll work with cute sandals too). As a bonus, when I got to the cash desk, the jeans were 50% off the already-marked down price. An inexpensive experiment!

Any other middle-aged gals who are wearing the mom jeans?
