Angie-Thank you I am a maximal. I've never been on TV What Do you think. I am open to suggestions. Meosha wanted me to use all the items from Combat to Chic. 1-10 is the first fit. Pircture 8 the dangling things from the dress is the earrings. 11-14 is the second. I am going to wear the Heels in pic. 12 for the next outfit. the leather tooled clutch was a find.

Greetings YLF family so I got some good and exciting news, my friend Meosha Thomas whom I talk about a lot has asked to be featured in a local T.V. Segment. Both of her nonprofit organizations One savvy Veteran and Combat to Chic (upscale thrift Boutiqu). Will be featured. She has asked me to style and wear 2 looks for the T.V. show. I will also have a brief time to talk about being a female veteran. Meosha has a passion for women veterans she was wounded from a road side bomb and was the only survivor. Suffering daily from a serious injury called lymphoma dema and blood clots daily. She does more in One day than most do in a lifetime. No joke.

That is why this is so near and dear to my heart. Veterans,Women, Affordable Thrifty Fashion. The perfect trifecta. Plus if you met me IRL. I just love to talk. Lol as much as I love to post on YLF or FB lol. To shine a spotlight where there is virtually none. All attention brings awareness to all veterans. As a disabled veteran myself people only see the physical. Meosha keeps her legs covered because of her disfigurement so people don't see her obvious injuries. Thank GOD for wide leg pants. People cannot see my injuries. They are mental so you even have male veterans who challenge you or us.

It is so ironic this happens. One is no less or greater than the other! Meosha's chosen area is to help women veterans with food,shelter,clothing,child needs,assistance with the basic necessities of life. ,everyone does not get that. The homeless women veterans are the fastest growing population. All are worthy of help. Forgive my rant. This is supposed to be good news.

Ledonna, that is fantastic news not only for you but also for all the people who will be watching! These are such important issues to bring to people's attention and to bring some joy into wounded people's lives with fashion is an incredible blessing. Wishing you HUGE fun for the show!!! Do you think we can see it over the net? That's very exciting news!

People are very unthinking. You can be in a wheelchair and they will still be terrible. Once when I was at the bakery, a woman got stuck in her wheelchair for 6 hours. Ran out of power. She was there until one woman finally noticed something was wrong and got two boys to push her to the bakery parking lot. Then they all ran away, including my coworkers, who never did more than have a look. I pushed her the rest of the way into the bakery by myself, helped her to the restroom in the back...a broken motorized chair is not something that wants to move, boy. When it was all over, a coworker patted me and said 'you're a good person. I'd never have done all that.' Lol. Yes. I know. Ahaha!

Guess that community service we had to do in school had some effect after all. I did my requirement at a senior home and was spectacularly bad at it. The seniors wouldn't talk to me except crazy Margaret. But it's funny, because since becoming a grown up - I tell you, it seems like I'm always picking elderly people up who've fallen on the street.

I think people don't know how to do things. That's the problem. They don't have the first clue.

That story about the woman in the wheelchair is sot horibble. Your co-worker saw you and did not help. hmmmmmmm. For my Deacons Training at my Church we volunteered for 1 year 2x a week at a senior care facility. It was sad how many people were left without visitors or loved ones to come visit.

I think that is not an excuse that people don't know how to do things. You were a superhero to that young lady. I think some people don't want to step outside of there comfort zone.

No. Not an excuse. Not a good one! Still, I think it's the reason. Ignorance controls people. I think everyone should be made to learn these things. Like in social living class - CPR, how to lift a person, etc.

I wonder what Angie will say. They always say wear solids on tv, but this is a fashion feature...

What do you say Rachylou? I respect your opinion. I have to agree with you about the ignorance. I feel after people have been educated they still choose to act ignorant.

Not sure about dressing for TV considerations: your ensembles are always compelling and others will likely chime in.

It's an interesting question. I agree many many choose to be ignorant, let someone else deal. But I also think the difference between learning problems are out there and learning what to do is huge. Like, I feel most who have taken CPR are ready to act and do, but just knowing someone could someday have a stroke in front of you...

It's very interesting. I'm a tech writer. One of the most interesting things I ever learned about was those airplane emergency cards. Do you realise there's pretty much no useful info on those cards should a real emergency arise? They function by priming the brain to remain responsive.

ETA: I mean, I hated that senior home and just felt useless there and was. But it seems I'm now prepared to act. I do just because I can. No other reason. I mean, I don't look for old people in trouble... I just actually see the trouble when it happens now and my attention blindness is gone in that respect...

Eliza than you for your words of encouragement they help a great deal. I feel the YLF fam cheering me on. We do what we can We do what we must.

Rachylou So many say "well if I was in that situation" I think you really never know until you are faced with a situation. I never knew what would happen if someone shot at me in combat. I heard so many people say what there were going to do in that situation vs what would happen. Some run to Some run from. Some are guilt or shamed into helping. Others choose not to involve themselves. I love the show What Would You Do. Because it sets up real life situations well, kinda. I do because I would want someone to do for me if I struggled. I used to get real mad at people who would just sit on the sideline and watch others struggle until I just decide to help instead of being mad.

Some people just don't know how even when shown the way. I cannot get frustrated. Al I can do is Ugh I don't want to quote. But I want to reflect that which I want to see.

Exciting news, Ledonna, and a VERY worthwhile cause!

And, I agree wirh Rachylou, more often than not, ignorance is just a state of mind instead of a deliberate turning away. I read an interesting perspective on this behaviour a few months ago. The author's position was that children who experience "helicopter parenting" rarely experience negative situations by themselves--there is always someone there to pick up the pieces or set things right. Add to that the insulating qualities of never being allowed to fail, or experience severe distress, and, according to the author, we've created a generation who lack the ability to recognize, empathize, and act when someone else needs help. Not quite sure I agree, but it was an interesting read.

in 2015. I'm not a parent but I do know that it takes a village to raise a child. I believe that we have became more self absorbed. On the other hand the youth of today can multi task well are at the forefront of trying something new. The empathy and sympathy are just lacking.

Oh yes, I do think there's a real physical element to it all. You kinda have to find yourself in a real scenario to find your mettle. You may fail the first time, but the second time you may get it together.

And it seriously takes a village to raise a child...

And I rather think it's too easy to be a quitter these days...but anyways...

I sometime liken it to how easy it is to stay in bed and blame everything on the war. If I let myself do it I could play the victim card. It would be easy for me to stay in that moment in that sorrow. It take more to pull yourself out of what you have been through. Instead of falling victim

That's true. It's really natural to just replay horror over and over. But then it gets weird, because at some point you get to feeding it a lot of energy to keep it so potent...

Meosha speaks and does interviews almost everyday. This was my first time. So I'm over the moon wit joy.
