And I'm grateful to YLF dot com for talking me down.
I bagged up one black garbage bag of bulky, floofy, superwarm stuff; base layers and half of my sock collection went in there too. I've got another half bag that will get more added to it when the laundry cycle is finished today. These bags will be going in the neighbor's sea-can shipping container thingamajig for the moment (or maybe inside my closet in the new house because bugs and rodents ehrmahgerd). As I bagged things up, I went from despising the act as a "seasonal changeover" (which I've avoided for 7 years because hate it), to thinking of it as a temporary holding zone situation (which doesn't bother me at all, go figure).
I left myself a few lighter weight warm garments and tons of transitional weight garments (thin knits with long sleeves) that aren't bothering me now that the bulkier stuff isn't in the way. I can layer these lighter garments, and I still have my 2 winter coats easily accessible if the need arises.
My sweater drawer has become my underwear drawer and i can now find undergarments without an entire bleep-fest of digging. My underwear drawer became my sock drawer, and my sock drawer is holding my workout gear (which may have to change as more gear arrives via ups). I pulled enough pants that either needed to be holding-zoned or weren't going to get worn again until fall and made room for me to iron and hang my 3 pairs of shorts that need to be ironed and hanged.
Once I did all that sorting and bagging, my pile of winter weight scarves and hats were no longer bothering me, so they stayed in place so I can still smile when I see them. We went through a whole thread about how to accessorize in winter, and looking at those winter accessories makes me think of you wonderful folks.
The more space I created, the more I felt like I could breathe again. Which is huge for somebody with COPD. So thank you for all of the suggestions, tips, and pointers.
And Joy, im still going to use your idea to try and speed up the construction progress. DH will be horrified at the thought of me buying an entirely new wardrobe every season LOL
