I'm just mad about saffron.....

.....and mustard and marigold!

Some of my favorite bright colors in my new palette are the yellows. I actually own three items in this color range already (an infinity scarf, a lightweight cardigan, and a necklace), and I'm thinking of adding a few more. My fall/winter wardrobe is quite dark, so I'm thinking the bright yellows will bring some brightness to the mix.

#1-2 - A cozy pullover sweater from Modcloth. It's comfy and has a nice drape. Not too pricey, so it's a fun way for me to play with a new color.

#3-7 - A quilted jacket from Anthropologie. It's quite retro (which isn't exactly my style), but it feels kind of fun. It's lined and very comfy, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off looking for something a little more classic and/or arty/edgy. This marigold color seems to be everywhere this fall, so it might not be hard to find another style of jacket.

#8 - the cardi, scarf, and necklace already in my closet

Thoughts? I'm pretty sold on the sweater, but less sure on the jacket. I'm also open to other bright yellow jacket options.

Oops, I love the jacket! I think it's ladylike but fun, sassy, and flattering. The detail below the collar is face-framing. The sleeve shape and length seem very current and would work well in the climates where I live and travel.

Sound advice, Suz and Diane. I love this color and how it brightens my face, but I think I'll have to be careful not to let my love for the color blind me to the item's style.

The woman who did my color analysis actually warned me about this!

I like the sweater! The jacket I'm less sure of. I think the sleeve looks a tad wide -- would it be possible to pin it to see if narrowing the sleeve a bit helps?

I agree with Suz and others to pass on the jacket - sweater looks great on you!

A consensus is building in favor of the sweater and against the jacket. And I agree. The jacket just isn't my style. I need to show color restraint!

Love the sweater....and this color is so wonderful next to your face compared to the oatmeal cowl sweater.

I never thought of yellow, especially in golden tones, to be a favorite color for me. But I have a pair of mustard suede wedges and I've worn them a lot. Same with a jean style jacket in mustard. And I really love different shades of yellow with gray.

I am going to go with the flow here and vote keep on the sweater and keep looking on the jacket. I agree that the color is great but I'm not sold on the shape.

A dissident voice rings out from the crowd...I like the jacket! I think it looks great on you, but only keep it if you feel great wearing it. It's the kind of particular look you have to be able to wear with nonchalance, otherwise you will never feel comfortable in it.

I agree with the major consensus of the group, but I wanted to say I love the style of the jacket, but it doesn't seem to advance your unique style. Sometimes it's nice to have an item that a little different, though, and I could see this working nicely with a tube skirt, for example. It's very Jackie O.

Inge, many and belated thanks for all of the Talbot's links. I checked out their marigold collection online after you posted and was amazed at the selection. This bright yellow seems to be everywhere this fall.

So, the jacket has been returned to Anthropologie and the sweater has been worn twice since I originally posted. I'm still mad about saffron! My most recent addition (pictured below) is the Flavia foldover clutch from BR. I'm going to take it out for a test drive tomorrow.
