I'm hitting a Boden trunk show today

I think their shirts and jackets tend to be sort of boxy. If you see any that aren't, could you report which ones? Sorry, I am at work so I can't go look for specific items right now. Thanks!

Okay, I'm back. I bought this shirt:

Very flattering shirt with a slim cut. It's cotton, washable, and is super soft and feels like a t-shirt but has way more structure. I am a 6 petite and got a small in green to wear with dark jeans and flats - also it looks great with white jeans.

I also bought this skirt:

in solid black to wear with black tights and riding boots and sweaters. I ordered 12L even though I am 5"4' because it runs short and I wanted it just above the knee. It sits on the hip, which is a different fit than the denim skirt, which sat more on the waist.

By the way, the denim skirt is NOT a-line as it appears in the catalog (at least to my eyes). It is straight.

Thank you for the report, Laura! The shirt is very pretty, and it looks like it doesn't wrinkle. The jacket was one of the things I was wondering about. Good to know!

Marianne, I forgot to mention that the velvet jacket has contrast stitching along the edges, which makes it more casual. Really cute. I would order down a size especially if you want it fitted.

Boden shows are a big thing in my area. They have local reps who take the clothes around to people's homes, you invite friends, and as hostess you get a discount. I guess they do this since they don't have retail stores in the U.S. If you order from the rep you get 15% off and free shipping and returns.

Definitely order the green shirt. It was better in person than I imagined. Some things were not as good ... it does help to see them.

Great buys Laura. I love the velvet skirt.

I had heard of trunk sales but never really understood what they were. Sounds kinda like a Tupperware party for a line of clothes? I assume they bring a sample of clothing in a trunk to a person's home?? Do they bring multiple sizing so everyone can try things on?

Yes Nicole it is a Tupperware party for clothes, basically! They bring in samples, sometimes a couple of sizes, but you do have to guesstimate based on the sample they have. Plus there is food, drinks, socializing ...
