...which item would you add to my spring wardrobe and why?

White moto vest
Yellow puff sleeve Zara blazer
Boden navy striped blazer

I'm not saying for sure I'm going to proceed with one of these as they were not on my spring shopping list...BUT...that list is fluid and up for change when something really strikes my fancy.

Hmm, I'd be thinking the vest over your EF dresses, pencil skirts with knit tops, and tapered pants. If you could get the length proportions right for petite-ness. If you want to volunteer to model the puff blazer, I'll be watching! I'm not keen on that color for a jacket for you ( as opposed to in an accessory) and I'm leery of the puffs, but consider the source.

I will explain my randomness.

I don't remember correctly but I think you either had or wanted a yellow blazer in the past spring/summer.
During summer it will be easier to layer a jacket on top of short sleeves than a vest on top of other things inside the office
The striped one reminds me of one you have for winter and the yellow is a happier/ summerish colour
the vest is lovely but it requires more fitted bottoms and you have great slouchy pants.
I can see you make the yellow blazer fit into a mini work capsule wardrobe with your pastel suit.

Well, this is difficult. They're all fab!
I'm torn between the vest and yellow jacket but... I'm going with the vest because that item is not as well represented in you closet as jackets.

All. I know it's kinda unfair, but that's it:-). I have a bl&w stripe jacket, so will have to consider the first two options for, me, what a relieve:-). But wait, I have a white vest, too...so then it's easy peasy...Nowadays I have a crush for yellow anyway...:-)

I also think it's difficult to draw a comparison because the pieces are so different. I personally love the striped blazer, I already loved it the first time I saw it on the website back in November.

Ha ha Angie - you've BUSTED me with the unfair comparison Of course you are correct - they all provide something different.

My spring/summer blazer capsule includes:

- White (the exact same blazer as my black suit blazer)
- Black
- INC navy lace moto
- J Crew pink tweed Chanel-esque
- Black and white strip knit
- Navy Lanai
- Blue/grey floral CM moto
- Yellow with white piping Gap Academy blazer
- Pastel blazer from pastel blue suit

I have other blazers (good grief...I have several don't I?) but they are too hot for warmer weather. In fact, that is an issue I have with the yellow Gap blazer. It is quite thick and very warm. However, since I have not worked in my new office location during the summer yet I have no idea what the A/C will be like.

If (and it is still a big IF) I choose one of the three items above, it obviously would be great to work with as many things in my wardrobe as possible from pencil skirts, dresses, trousers, and jeans.

Alright ladies - maybe this will give you more information.

ETA: pics of my current striped blazer and yellow blazer included for comparison sake. My blazer capsule does not include my white denim, blue denim and denim with leather sleeved jackets. Or my leather jackets either. Hmmm.....do you think I have an unnatural jacket addiction - lol?

Is the black and white striped knit too similar to the striped Boden blazer? I can't remember. Looking at this list I vote for the vest.

Astrid - my striped blazer is similar to the Boden one but is not well made and doesn't have the fab details of the Boden with the pockets.

If you already have a yellow with piping, do you really need another yellow? They may be very different, but I know there is a limit to how frequently I'd want to be wearing such a colour.

And if the striped is a replacement for the one you have, then you can get it guilt free. If it's not... do you need two? Again, not the same, but similar enough that you might not double the wear with two, you might just wear them less frequently. Not as good an investment, imho.

Which leaves the vest.

Excellent points Elizabeth - if I were to go with either the yellow blazer or the striped blazer, they would replace the item I currently have. I'd consider it an "upgrade" and the older version would be sent off to the thrift store.

Celia - you made a very strong argument in favor of the yellow blazer. I also wonder about the layering of the vest a bit for the work environment. Trickier to "get it right", you know?

I vote the yellow blazer. Just because the color looks good on you and and it is such a bright, fun, summery color. The puffed sleeves is also a style that will look good on you. But that may just be my bias because I really want that yellow blazer but am pretty sure the color will look horrid on me. My second choice for you would be the vest. I love me a striped jacket but it just seems like they are every where right now which takes some of the fun out of it for me.

Okay, now I'm voting the striped blazer, again. I'm all for quality upgrades and I think the Boden blazer is great quality. Probably better than the Zara blazer, at least if the Zara quality is the same as here...

I really like the yellow jacket. Now, please understand, I just don't care for vests, so I struck that one off immediately.

While I like the striped Boden blazer, I feel like the one you have is very similar and not as much of a style upgrade as the Zara. Zara quality. . . .well, that is always debateable.

I love you all! This is soooooo much fun seeing what you would choose and why.

Of course on petite, high waisted me, there is the fit issue to consider. The yellow Zara blazer is not petite and I know the two blouses I had ordered from them several months ago had to be sent back because they were just too long in the body for me.

And the moto vest - well, if the waist isn't in the right spot for me the style may not work. Although unzipped that may not be an issue and that is most likely the way I would wear it.

The Boden jacket is a cropped, boxier jacket. But cropped on others may be closer to a regular length on me.

I prefer the striped blazer that you already have from a looks perspective. The yellow Zara is more 2014 than the one you have. And the white vest is a whole different animal. Perhaps try yellow and white and go from there.

I don't yet have a handle on all your wardrobe options, but from what I've seen, #1 could work well and be very versatile assuming you don't have another sleeveless white vest. It could add edge and modernity to a lot of outfits assuming the fit and fall worked well in practice.

For number 2, have you tried a yellow that color close to your face? As in a scarf or something? That's my only pause, I think our flattering colors overlap a bit and I'm not sure I can pull off yellow on my top half. I think the shape of the jacket could be good though.

For number 3, very nice jacket, but don't you already have a black/white striped one? Or is this a replacement if that one finds a new home? Or am I just confused?

ETA: Hmm... when I posted this there was only one comment in the thread (computer weirdness), so ignore, I think my questions have all been answered by other comments :).

The yellow, if you promise not to wear it with a black pencil skirt.

This is my reasoning: The stripes are ever so slightly narrow, ever so slightly timid - even though they are also "loud," producing a lot of visual vibration... which may not be the hottest thing for work.

The vest, at the risk of sounding like a t.v. sitcom husband - don't you have something like that already? Lol. If you have a white moto, I don't see that the vest shape would provide much of a draw inside your closet.

Okay, until I saw your pictures I was all over the striped jacket. I could so see you that, so many different ways. Now looking at the pictures...maybe that is because I do see you in it? Not the same, but pretty similar.

And I can't vote yellow because I just don't like yellow! It looks great on you, but on principle I never vote yellow.

So...white vest. Just because it gives you more variety from what you already own.

If you have a white leather moto jacket, I think that's kinda too similar... On the other hand now that I know you have both yellow and striped blazers (sorry, got a memory like a sieve), the vest would be different.

On the third hand, I find the two new blazers very different from the existing ones (still a girl after all! hehe).

I'm going to stick with the yellow blazer with puff shoulder sleeves. I like its sharpness and the way it adds the merest dash of frilliness back into your wardrobe. Just shakes things up a bit.

Shannon - all ver pretty. You wear vests to well and they are all season pieces. You seem to gave a pretty broad jacket collection going and I've love to see the vest over the new EF dress!! Just me!! I think it would just add that little extra uumph!! But that's my bias. Now go forth and buy something gorgeous, gorgeous!!
