Sometimes the hardest part to accept is that you get to live your life even as your friend and her family live theirs. The sadness and the guilt can be overwhelming.

Such sorrowful news, Janet. I will pray for her and the family. My SIL is facing early dementia, and seeing her slip away before her boys are grown is such a heartbreak. I am thankful for every smile, and every moment that I can be of real help.

Relaxing with your DH will fortify you both for the days ahead, and I sure your friendship will be invaluable to the whole family. Soak up the sun and be grateful for it's warm and time to recharge.

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news. Will be thinking of you. Take care of yourself.

I got the call this morning -- it's over. She went peacefully, cuddled and loved by her husband and four children. It's so hard to believe her struggle is over. Seventeen years' survival after a multiple myeloma diagnosis is beyond remarkable. I am glad she is no longer in pain, but my heart aches for her family.
