If you had to pick one of these dresses....

...which would you choose and why? I really like both, and would like to get one before we go away next April. So if I can only afford one, which should I get? I will note that I think the models are wearing them a little more boxy than I would (especially the sleeveless one), so try to picture them slightly more fitted. They are close enough in price, so not a deciding factor. Not buying right now though....hopefully after Christmas.

ETA - or are neither of these good for the reasons I listed in my second post, and should I keep looking? So far I like both of these a lot though.

Hmm, I think I like #1 a little bit more - I like the subtle details and the longer hemline (is this something that would concern you?).

I feel the second dress is a bit more your style (small prints) - but it does have sleeves! This isn't really a big deciding factor for me; but is it for you?

Lyn - I also like the hemline of #1, and the length is fine with me. I do like the sleeves of #2. They're good for fall and protect my arms in summer (I'm a burner).

I'd like to get a nice dress that I can wear for a lot of occasions, or just casually in Spring, fall and summer. And I like Navy, it's like LBD but just a little less dressy.

My vote is for #1. You have a very fit body - and I think #1 would flatter it more. Also I think the styling is more you - modern and stream lined. I worry that you might get lost in the folds of #2.

I prefer 1. I like the length of it better, and the construction with the panels looks neat.

hmm - didn't you buy a gorgeous striped jacket/blazer? Would that work with dress #1?

Yes Merwoman I did! I haven't had a chance to photograph it yet, but it would work with #1 perfectly....it's a touch too big though (I think, that's what I have to post about soon...it may need a nip tuck).

Hehe...yes, but very helpful too! It's a very good point though, and I did buy that jacket with our Croatia trip in mind. The weather will be perfect for just a blazer, I plan to make that my travel jacket.

My vote is with #1. It is a bit schoolgirl (but I happen to like that....and it's done in an ironic way.) It's versatile (can more easily layer). It is more streamlined and sophisticated.

What great items you have selected - I can see why it is hard to choose. I cast my vote for 1 because you mentioned the need for versatility and I think that one would be easier to dress up and down.

For this purpose I think #1 is better but #2 is cute.

#1 is structured in a more interesting way. I think it'll suit your athletic body type beautifully when worn as a sleeveless garment, but also has all the layering potential. I like that it's monochromatic. I really like the hi-lo hem. To me there's no contest.

So, without seeing it on you, it is hard to really know.

My eye prefers #1. I like the cut of the dress, the hemline, and the vertical piping that adds a nice vertical line. I also like the graphic simplicity of it and its almost architectural qualities. I also like that it looks dressier to my eye. I also think it will be easier to dress up or down.

Thanks ladies....lots of good points. I do think like a lot of you said, #1 would owrk well on my body type. Also, I realized #2 is the same shape and style as the grey one I had on in a different post, so maybe it's just a duplication. And #1 seems like it could be more versatile, which is sort of what I need. Now, just have to save up some money!

Angie, I did get the jacket. I have just been lazy (and I had the flu) so I haven't posted it. It is a touch too big I think, well just not quite as fitted as I was hoping for, but still very nice. I may have it taken in. I will post it first to see if you guys agree that it's maybe a bit roomy.
