If you could only wear one perfume for a year which one would it be?

I adore fragrance, and want to ask you all this question. If you could only wear one perfume for all of 2018, which one would you wear? I think it reveals much about our style and personality~ Love to hear your answers~ I would choose, Jean Paul Gaultier classic. It is of the Oriental category, kind of amber, vanilla, muskey with some pear, and rose. My favorite~

I've been wearing Shalimar since I was 18--it's my signature.
Occasionally, I'll take a break so my nose gets refreshed.

What a great question Violett. I also like oriental fragrances. I have not tried yours, but I will certainly do it, sounds wonderful.

I have a few favorites which I have been wearing for a few years, it would be difficult to choose only one.
If only one would be alIowed, I would wear Chanel Coromandel - a warm, elegant, woody oriental fragrance.

I tend to wear one at a time all year anyway. In 2017 it is Versace Bright Crystal which I smelt on someone else and liked. My next one might be my husband's favourite which I go back to every few bottles for his pleasure: Calvin Klein Obsession. For my own choice I prefer florals.

I've been totally in love w Dior J'Adore eau de parfum for several years. (Before that in the 2000, K de Kritzia; the 80's Oscar de lady renta perfume, and 90's Giorgio Beverly Hills Red). J'adore has gorgeous ylang ylang as its top note. The heart is Damascus rose and base note is jasmine. To me it's an elegant, complex, sophisticated, mysterious, intelligent floral. Heady, long lasting, with depth and complexity. Romantic, lush but never cloying. It lingers and you need a very small amount and never need to reapply. I never tire of it although my love tends to last more than a decade on perfumes I never know when my next evolution will take place. But currently this is still my favorite and I will happily wear it exclusively for a long time to come.

Yes, Gryffin! J’Adore is beautiful! It is feminine and soft floral, but interesting and unique. I also enjoy it, sometimes buy a small bottle in the summertime.

Hanae Mori Butterfly. Something about it makes me feel elegant and feminine when I wear it, even if I'm wearing jeans and a tshirt.. I first encountered it in one of the big dept stores in Montreal more than 10 years ago, before it was available in the US. It's not available in stores any more, just online.

What it is: Layers of aromas reveal an intimate blend of tradition and modernity from the legendary grande dame of Japanese haute couture, Hanae Mori.

Fragrance story: Cherry trees in blossom, berries in the forest, the richness of the undergrowth—all have inspired Hanae Mori (whose name means 'flower of the forest').

Notes: bilberry, blackberries, blackcurrant buds, strawberry, jasmine, peony, rose, ylang-ylang, cedarwood, raspberry tree, rosewood, sandalwood, wood.

The last one I remember loving before this was Burberry Brit.

Although there are many others I've enjoyed (including Shalimar, J'Adore & Burberry Brit mentioned above.)

I love scent. I was on a mission to find a signature scent. I tried so many different ones, my head spun. I wanted something that I defined as "clean" and "fresh." I'm not sure what that meant and I never found it.

Unquestionably Portrait of a Lady by Frédéric Malle for me. I love it so much that I would happily have it as my only perfume for the rest of my life. For the powerful and elegant woman, POAL is sophisticated and opulent. It is based around a heart of Turkish rose with complimentary accords of benzoin, cinnamon, sandalwood, patchouli, musk and frankincense. The result is truly alluring. It lasts exceptionally well and and both men and woman often compliment this fragrance on me. So special, so unique, so sensual, so feminine, so expensive but so worth it.

I'm also a fan of Dior's J'Adore, but I prefer it during cooler months.
In summer I wear lighter fragrances.

So if I really had to choose only one and give up the others for year-round, it would be L'Eau Kenzo (formerly L'Eau Par Kenzo). Fresh, lightly floral, lightly sweet, not overpowering but definitely there. I've been wearing it since the late 90s!

Unfortunately it's getting hard to find the real thing in the US--Sephora doesn't carry it anymore. Amazon has it but it's hard to tell if they are knock-offs or older bottles. If anyone knows of a trusty source, please let me know! (See it on the Kenzo official site here; they don't seem to sell directly.)

I'd go with TokyoMilk Dark's Bulletproof. It's sweet and smoky and spicy (I usually prefer scents with woods and spices over florals), and I love the name. It smells better on skin than in the bottle.

When I do wear perfume, I wear Tresor. I get headaches when I try to switch perfumes. I think it’s so interesting how perfume can smell so different on different people. Things I like on others I dislike on myself and vice versa.

Only one? Yikes! I have a 'class' of perfumes that I like - they fall into the "Woody", "Aromatic", and "Spicy" categories.

These include notes of:

Tobacco
Oud
Black Currant & Currant Leaf
Woody
Green
Coffee
Cinnamon
Aromatic
Balsamic
Honey
Cherry
Smoky
Sweet
Warm or Fresh Spicy

My currernt favorites are: Enchanted Forest, Intoxicated, and my top contender is Laudano Nero.

But you have said to pick one... and for me, it's a no-brainer, Tobacco Oud, by Tom Ford. When I wear this, I feel unstoppable, and all-powerful. And it isn't overpowering during the summer, if it is judiciously applied.

My signature, Black Orchid by Tom Ford. Strong, sensual and spicy. I wear just a small amount, so only those closest to me smell it. , I do occasionally switch up for something lighter, but not florally, in the summer, no favourite tho, I use samples.

Srah - I became quite a fan of TokyoMilk's perfumes this past year. I had worn Bulletproof in the past, but also started wearing Dead Sexy, which is a real favourite right now. I sold/repped the Margot Elena line this year and have every single scent made for the Dark and the Classic lines- lots of fun experimenting with them.

Hi guys~ I adore hearing your responses. I love the new chanel Gabrielle fragrance, but don't like the fact that every women will be wearing it! I like more obscure scents. I also find, don't you, that fragrances kind of coincide with our life?
I wore certain fragrances in seasons of my life. Do you find this?

Violett, Chanel Coromandel is one of the perfumes within the Les Exclusifs de Chanel line. There are several interesting perfumes there - I also love Cuir de Russie - it has a smoky and leathery note, if you like that sort of rather intense fragrance.
I also like Tresor - a distinct perfume.

This post is very interesting and useful - I have been searching for a new fragrance lately, I am definitely going to try Jean Paul Gaultier Classic, Portrait of a Lady, Tokyo Milk Bulletproof, La Belle D.s favorites and other spicy perfumes you guys like.

For some years, I have been using Thierry Mugler.s Alien all the time, it has been my absolute favourite. During the autumn, I suddenly got tired of it, put away an almost full bottle and started using the Coromandel. Two entirely different fragrances. Maybe, it indicates a certain change of style or a new period ...

Wanted to ask if anyone wears the Alien or if you have any opinion of it?
