Was going to say my fave swap meet, because of variety and prices, but I can't get my shoes there.

Then I was going to say TJ Maxx, because I can get shoes, bags, and clothes for not TOO horrible prices (still expensive for me, however).

But I think I'll settle on Ebay! Is that too much of a cop-out?

The only realistic response to this question is some kind of department store. Would you get your underwear from Goodwill and ebay...?

Are the places you shop at now going to be the same places you shop at 10 or 20 years from now? I love Urban Outfitters and H&M now, in my 20's, but I realize my time with them as my main shopping stops is limited.

Is your style persona never going to change? How about your finances? If you are wealthier in 10 years, are you still going to want to shop at TJ Maxx?

Can't predict the future. I'd be miserable no matter where I shopped if it was my only choice.

Ann Taylor. They carry my size or I can order, they have great sales, the quality is decent and their design style suits me:)

Hmm. Many of the lines carried at Nordstrom run big, so if I picked that store, I would be forever having things remade. I'm inclined to say Ann Taylor, but that would never do for shoes...

Let's say I would pick Nordstrom, but would mostly be buying things that looked like they came from Ann Taylor.

It would have to be a department store in order to see to all my wardrobe needs - from $12 camisoles to designer handbags :0)

So here we go:

o USA – Nordstrom
o London – Selfridges
o Hong Kong – Sogo
o Netherlands – de Bijenkorf

I would REALLY miss H&M, Zara and Club Monaco.

My vote goes to a well-stocked department store too. Unfortunately we don't really have something resembling Nordstrom here, so I'd have to come shopping in the US then. And I would certainly miss all the fantastic small boutiques and shops like Zara, Mango, WE, Benetton and Mexx, so please don't make me choose;-)

My pick is a department story but, like Angie, totally city-specific.
I love our Macy's here in SF (Union Square) but recently found myself at the one in Washington, D.C. and was HORRIFIED by how filthy the store was and how shoddy the merchandise was. Though I did end up with a very sweet clerk and a great pair of cropped leggings...
By contrast, the Nordstrom here is so-so.
I think I'd have to go with Bloomingdale's--it's the most geographically consistent and has a decent mix of price points.

I agree with Maya. On a practical level, it would be JCPenney. It would be affordable, has decent styles, decent accessories, leather goods, etc.

My fantasy would be either Nordstrom or Bloomie,s ( but then the question would become " which homeless shelter do you prefer ? )

I have been holding off so far, but I have to say Macy's for me.

I grew to love it when it was homegrown Dayton's, then it endeared itself to me when it was Marshall Field's, but I think I have really come to understand it best as Macy's AND I can get almost everything my heart desires (plus even more) at a great price. . . (knock on wood)

And my Macy's here in Minneapolis/St. Paul are a LOT better than ANY Macy's I have checked out when I am traveling!
