If the shoe fits... But does it?

I got this pair of Navy blue leather sneakers off Yoox. Have been looking for the right pointy toe sneakers since whenever they became a thing.

They stay on my feet okay, but when I take steps they do this gap thing around the middle of my foot. Is that going to be a problem? I have small high volume duck feet, like little blocks.

Navy leather sneakers ??! Why don't I know about this ? I hate when shoes do that gapping thing , and it's a deal breaker for me . They look so cute on though. I'm not sure why that happens - I don't have the same kind of foot you do ....mine are narrow , which I thought is what caused that to happen.

I hate when that happens but I tolerate it in some shoes and not in others.
It all depends on how much the gap bothers you. The shoes look nice though.

I am another "duck footed" gal and I frequently have gapping on the sides (close to the heel area) with slip on shoes. Because of the shape of my foot (narrow heel and wider toe area) I have come to the conclusion that I cannot avoid this problem. I have had some limited success bringing shoes to a cobbler to have some padding inserted in the problem areas. You may also be able to find the "stick on" pads -- but they have to be replaced often as they lose their stick.

So they're gapping when you walk, but not when you're just standing still? Is that photo with your foot flat on the floor, or just the toe? If it's just the toe, as though you're taking a step, I sometimes get a bit of that -- but my feet are on the narrow/low volume side, and it's tough to find slip-on shoes that don't have a bit of room around the middle of the foot like that. As long as they don't gap when I'm standing still and the shoes aren't falling off my heels, I don't consider it a dealbreaker. I use insoles to help the fit too.

Those sneakers have great appeal. Anytime shoes gap like that on my foot, they are flapping right off the heel, which answers the question for me. The straight down picture demonstrates the gap, yet it is hard to tell how the shoe would read from the side, especially if pants cover any part of them. If you like them and they work you could keep them; just wonder that if the leather is soft they could stretch further with wear.

Frustrating to have an issue with a great style of shoe!

Fab shoes! If the gapping interferes with your normal stride in even the tiniest way, or makes your feet at all uncomfortable, it's probably best to return them.

I have similar feet to you and this happens to me frequently. Whether I tolerate it depends on the size of the gap. Sometimes, an added heel saver fills in a bit of the space without making it too tight or rub uncomfortably.

I have tried on many sneakers this spring because I wanted variety, but I just gave up and ordered a pair in a different color like ones that I have that fit well. My problem is with heels that don't fit. My feet are wide in the front with normal heels. I plan to do a lot of walking in these sneakers, so they have to fit well. I didn't know about pointy toe sneakers being stylish and it's probably just as well that I didn't have to worry about that, too.

Dunno how you feel about suede, but it's more forgiving in regards to gaping? I just got these, but they might be too light for your taste.

This picture is taken as I'm stepping on the ball of my foot. I'm leaning toward return - which is sad because I love them! But I do think the gapping might signify bad fit, and after my Vegas experience I do not need more foot pain!

The gap would bother me. Do they make little squooshy-farty or slappy noises? For me, noises from shoes (other than the sound of soles on a surface) are dealbreakers.

If the gap is happening as you walk, but not when you stand still, I don't think it would bother me. Doesn't that happen to a degree with all shoes when you walk?

I don't know.... Sneakers tend to hug my feet when they fit properly. I have the same issues with ballet flats - feet tend to flap out of them or get a weird gap. No bodily noises, thankfully!
