If it ain't broke...

I tried something new and ordered some things from Madewell. Nothing fits well, even if it goes on or zips up. I ordered talls in the jeans and they're long enough but too boxy and way too short in the back rise. Meanwhile, the stuff I ordered from JC Penney fits great, is long enough, and looks cute. As a bonus it's half the price. Remind me why I'm trying to buy more expensive brands, again?

Some brands just do not "get" you! I have a few that despite me liking the stylings - look just horrible and fit just horrible on me! I don't know if it still exists but Esprit never fitted me.

I don't particularly know either of these brands but I think JC Penney is a long standing retailer and Madewell a newer, trendier one? I guess all you can do is be pleased with the savings.

I try not to take it personally, but sometimes I feel like it's just that trendy retailers don't want overweight people wearing their clothes. Sigh.

This is one of the main points I get stuck on when thinking about going sustainable/ethically produced only. Most ethical producers don't even offer clothes in my size, and the ones that do have something in the same vague circumference, you couldn't say that it fits for any reasonable definition of flattery or comfort.

That happens. I find that every season is a new adventure. One year I have incredible luck at a merchandiser and the next year nothing. I'm glad you found what you were looking for (at a cheaper price too). I wonder if the quality isn't better as well?

Ugh. I totally understand how disheartening that can be. It seems like certain retailers have written off our body type as unworthy. I know it's probably not true that Everlane only cares about skinny people's ethics and Madewell's execs have cavalierly declared, "Let them wear mom jeans!," but it certainly feels that way sometimes.

It's really true about some brands *just not getting* a person. I don't enjoy wearing jeans in general. Almost all the pairs I do have and will wear, they come from Target.
