Er....try this. The perfect plot of land at the end of the road that overlooks the river on 3 sides...one's own peninsula. So whatever it has, it has to have windows galore. A fishing shack is out.
*High-five* Rachy, comfy sofas with canvas covers is what immediately came to my mind. Cutesy guest bath with floral curtains and starfish decor. A piano in the corner. Lots of diffuse light coming from the windows. Pantry full of store-brand foods. Sisal rug. Driftwood on the wall. A large plaid chair in the wood-paneled basement.
Ok, when I say "Land's End" I DON'T mean the catalogue. I mean the idea of a house at the end of a road that overlooks...nothing. Something faintly mysterious and yet triumphant, perched on the edge of the world.
sorry... i think the catalog and the house are linked...when you say land's end, i think of a house on the beach or lake shore....literally land's end...and so i think nautical, and that leads to preppie....
