Sounds like you are sorted and are going to look into Levi's, which are awesome. However, maybe I'm being daft, but aren't straight leg jeans trendy right now, since they fit into that '90s aesthetic? So your Gap GF jeans are actually trendy :)?

Jonesy - my gap gf’s look like very basic jeans . Not long enough to cuff or do anything interesting with the length . You’re right that the straight leg look is trending now but I want something more visually interesting than that . They just look like every pair of jeans I’ve worn for the past 10 years .

Here's some that I saw today if you want trends.. Those were Rag and Bone, I think...leather bottoms (or pleather, I didn't check.)

I tried on some wide leg ankle lengths at Aritzia. (I would have to shorten to make them the right length, but there is nothing new in that). I quite liked them. But I want them in a different wash. 100% cotton, very sturdy. They're called the Farrah.

Honestly, though -- it's a task. I've been at it all fall, off and on, as you know. Ordering, sending back. Ordering, sending back. It was useful to be in store to try on a few today.

I’ve had this ‘pinned’ for a while (it’s from NY fashion week 2018) but if I could find these jeans, they’d be mine!!!

those are very cool jeans, Carla! Love them with the loafers and socks.

Those are brilliant, Carla! I think a person with sewing skills could make a pair up from thrift store finds.

I like the colorblocked/patchwork effect jeans! Those are cool. Although my preference is for the lower contrast versions. I tried a pair on once a few years ago and confirmed the look is horrible on my thick legs, but so cute on others! I think they suit a simple styling with solid color supporting acts.

I get it, Lisa! If jeans are integral to your style and you're feeling bored by what you have on hand, hopefully Levi's can deliver! There is so much variety in denim right now, surely your pair is out there.

I love the patchwork jeans. I have an older pair that are quite skinny, but I am keeping them around because I love them, and a newer pair in a looser cut that have big patches on the front (Rivet & Thread, from Madewell maybe three years ago, below). Have you looked at Madewell? They always have lots of jeans!

Yes ! Excited to try some Levi’s - it may be waiting until after the holidays at this point as days off are rare for the next couple of weeks . Last thing I want to do is be in a store . Patchwork isn’t my thing - cute for others , just doesn’t appeal to me . Madewell has lots of jeans , I know , but sadly only has skinnies in the dept they occupy at The Bay here in Wpg. I think this will be an in-person exercise anyways .

lisap, earlier this year I got cuffed jeans from Everlane at a good discount, plus free shipping (I did order a few things), and I believe their international returns situation is also reasonable (free or flat rate) or I wouldn’t have gone for it. I think we have similar price points and lack of tolerance for shipping & duties. May you also have good shopping mojo and find some fab jeans!

I have had a very good run on jeans this year, and at close to your age understand wanting to be current, but not ... out there.
1. deep cuff high waist from Mango. Not sure these are the exact, mine are a darker denim, but I love love love these. today I am wearing with a pair of dressy cap toe sling backs, but I wear with booties, tennies, too.

2. Jen7 cropped (similar to the link, but mine are probably ankle, these are shorter than mine) with just a slight flare. mid rise, dark wash. wear with booties, tennies mostly, also oxfords sans socks. maybe even with in the winter, have not tried yet.

3. Levis ribcage straight, someone here on the forum showed them, and they were in my cart for ages before I committed. they arrived as a button fly, not zip as described, but I really like them.

Each of these three really elevate my denim collection for the year. I feel on trend, they fit well. Dare I say I feel "cool" even. yes, I dare say it.

Like Indigoprint, I'm looking to straight-legs lately, and I I want full-length. I have enough cropped jeans already. My two most recent pairs are G-Star Raw, in two classic straight silhouettes with different fits and washes (in Finds below). I love them both, and I feel more stylish in them than in my cropped Levi's Wedgie jeans, which I've been wearing for a few years now. I would also grab a pair of dark wash boyfriend jeans, if I could find the exact right fit and wash. I tried some from G-Star and almost kept them (third Find), but ultimately decided they were too baggy in the thigh. Those COH Emerson slim ones mentioned above are very tempting. I really don't want to pay full price, though--yikes.
