Ideas for a dressy capsule?

Hi, Ladies,

I need to create a small dressy/dressier capsule to supplement my smart-casual wardrobe. I don't need anything too glitzy or glamorous, just a few interesting pieces to take me to the theatre or a nice restaurant.

I already have a navy lace dress, nude heels, nude and navy clutch bags and smart black trousers, plus silky scarves, pearl earrings and various pendants and cuff bracelets.

Your ideas would be much appreciated.

Summer, sounds like you've got a great capsule started ... perhaps a silky blouse or two to go with the pants?

Dressy capsule items are the most fun! I like the idea of adding more separates that you could dress up or down. A silky blouse like torontogirl suggests, a shell top with some embellishment, maybe a skirt? What about a pair of fun shoes? Do you have some toppers that work with your dressy items?

I second the embellished shell. Also, if you live in a cooler climate, consider a stunning cashmere or merino sweater with a neckline that flatters you. Some of those are amazing and look absolutely elegant for a winter night at the theater. Nice pants, some smart boots, maybe a great belt or earrings, and you're good to go.

Do you wear skirts? Some dressier pencil skirts, or whatever shape suits you, would be a nice addition. And more tops that you can wear with the skirt or your pants.

Some ideas - not necessarily in this order...

- "date night" tops
- second pair of heels, in either metallic or animal print
- a third clutch in a pop of color
- dressy ballet flats (metallic is nice) for those occasions you don't want to wear heels
- a versatile LBD (for occasions when lace is too dressy)
- a skirt in your preferred shape
- a dressy topper, such as a tuxedo jacket
- a crisp white shirt
- dark wash denim

You may already have some of these items in your closet?

Thank you so much for your input, ladies. Between you, you have suggested the perfect capsule items, which should work back nicely with my smart casual things.
I have now pulled out all the likely candidates from my closet, and will take my time to evaluate what's needed.
