I Went to the NAS and Didn't Buy a Thing!

I can't believe it, but nothing was signing to me (well, actually something did, and I bought it- a summer dress at NY & Co out in the mall). I tried on a lot, and I even took pictures, but only one came out at all:

These happen to be two of Angie's picks- the Trouve military jacket, and the silk shirt. I liked both, but didn't love them enough to buy them. I am thinking about getting the jacket, though. It was nice to really be able to try things on and not worry about time or kids.

Khris, I was also a little underwhelmed by what I saw. I didn't even try on anything because I just didn't find anything I liked enough to go through the trouble for. Somehow I think you and I are not really in Nordstrom's target market.

I wonder how many people find it hard to even try on fall and winter clothing when it's so hot. The olive (is it olive?) of the shirt and jacket look so good on you. Your hair is adorable, BTW.

I really, really like this jacket on you Khris. If you do not get this particular one, you should definitely consider something similar.

Maya- I actually did find and try on a lot of things that I liked. You may be right, though- I have never really been a Nordstrom's shopper. I was able to try on several different military/cargo pants. The ones that I liked and will be considering for fall were both a ponte knit jegging type (at Express and AEO) rather than the more twill type that I found at Nordie's.
I tried on several other military type jackets, but I do like the Trouve one better than any of the other that I have found so far- both in color and fit. As time goes on, I am also more drawn to the silk tunic. We'll see!

I like a lot of Nordstrom's merchandise but I feel like it just isn't right for my lifestyle, age, and budget. I'm sure I could like a lot of stuff if I tried it on, but nothing ever grabs me the way things do when I walk into an Urban Outfitters, H&M, or Anthropologie.

FWIW, I was underwhelmed with NAS as well. I'm kind of with Maya in that many items don't really seem to work for my lifestyle. It's also been so darn hot that I'm not very motivated to look at fall/winter clothes. The only thing I did order were the Frye Jane's but I'm not sure that I'll keep them. I'll have to see when they arrive.

Glad you were able to shop without worrying about the kids. That's a treat in and of itself!

Oh, I do like that jacket on you a lot. I adored the shopping sans kids too ~ no worries about rushing, able to actually focus on the task at hand. BTW, I ended up buying that very same tunic. I think I'll get a lot of use out of it this summer and into fall.

I thought I'd find it hard to look at and try on fall/winter clothing at NAS during our New England heat wave, but the temperature was so cool in the store with their central AC that I was happy to put on jackets and sweaters for a bit of warmth!

Heh, I went today and only ended up with a couple of bras and Angie-approved Oroblus. I was too focused on finding some boots that nothing else really jumped out at me. I also agree about lacking motivation for winter clothes shopping. Our summer just started, and I don't have a slightest idea what I would want for the fall.
Regardless, both look lovely on you Khris. Maybe you could buy them, keep for a while and return later if you find things you like better?

Actually, I LOVE that jacket and top on you. Like all-time favorite outfit of yours love. Somehow the colors are very flattering to your face and the two pieces look really good together as well.

Maya- I have been lusting after that dress! It's a good thing that it is heavyweight twill and has those cap sleeves- because that means that it would be too hot for a summer dress for me, anyway.

I actually had fun playing fall dress up, since we are in the midst of a heatwave (tomorrow is supposed to be 107), but I am really trying not to buy too much too early. It didn't help that I picked a tiny store (didn't know that when I was trying to decide between two). I got home to find a dress from Macy's that I had ordered as an exchange- it doesn't fit, so now I have to return it. Maybe I will go to the other Nordie's/Macy's next weekend.

Sihaya- I haven't lost any weight, but I seem to have gotten smaller. The dress that I bought today was a single digit number size. The last time I remember having a single digit number size was a 6X (that's little girls clothes and I was in kindergarten!)

Once my new hairdresser saw how fast my hair grows, he started cutting it much shorter. I am actually going to grow it out a bit now for fall.

Khris, I'm glad you enjoyed being a lone shopper for a change. I can't even begin to imagine NAS with children in tow. The trouve jacket looks lovely and may still be contender.

Maya-I had those in my hand, but I didn't try them on. I tried on a couple other similar varieties and the only ones that I could even get on were Joe's Jeans because they had a ton of stretch to them (but I didn't like the color and they were way out of budget. After so many pair, I gave up on the non stretchy ones. I really liked the ponte knit ones that I tried on, though.

Hi Chewy,

You have mentioned that you don't use a credit card and I dont' like to either. How do you order on line without one? I would like to do that too...

maggiej- I just use my bank ATM card, which functions like a credit card or an ATM card- but comes directly out of my bank account.
