Mystery Machine sundress seeks partner for daytime wear

This is a favorite that I wore a few times last summer. I can’t wait til the weather changes to let me wear it.

It absolutely needs a bra. The spaghetti straps mean that whatever I wear will be visible. I’m fine with that, but need a color that works well with the dress. It doesn’t need to be a match; anything in Scooby-doo colors (except the colors of the actual dog) would work. I’d prefer a racerback, like the back of the dress, & matching undies just ‘cause. The one I wear with it currently is on its last legs.

I’ve come up with a couple options in colors I think would work, but I’d have to use a clip—they aren’t racerback or convertible. Also, it seems to have been decided that bright colors = bralette, but I need more support, preferably underwires. Can you help me find better? This is what I’ve found so far. I’m not sure about lace with the cartoonish pattern on the dress, but the color & straps take priority.

I’m in Europe, need to buy something here, in case it needs to be returned.

TL/DR
Need to get a sleek racerback underwire bra in Scooby-Doo colors (but not black or brown) in Europe.

Have you tried Marlies Dekker and Triumph bras? Those are really good Euro brands. A coral bra would look good with this dress!

On the flip side, good old C&A is not to be underestimated, and their price points are good.

I’m not a good shopper, but a coral would be nice like Angie says - or one of the other colours in the dress. The berry is good too.

But I say, with 100% chance of rain ... maybe you should go trendy and wear it over a sweater...

Angie, I hadn’t even thought of C&A, but I’ll go flip that stone now.

Rachylou, the berry one is losing its stretch—it’s almost time for something new Today’s rain & chill are making me eager to wear the dress. And I think it did rain 100% of the time today.

There’s a saying about fast, cheap, and good quality—you can have one or two of those, but it’s impossible to get them all together. I’m starting to feel that way about racerback, bright color, and support.

I have a coral (it’s much more orange than this photo shows) Natori feathers bra—but the straps aren’t right. Racerbacks aren’t that hard to come by if you’re ok with blah colors, but I really don’t think that’s what I want.

The lime green one is amazing! And the pink one pretty. Would you wear them with other things?

Jenni NZ, yes, i expect i will wear whatever I get with other things. Neither of those has the support or racerback that I need for the dress, so I doubt I’ll pull the trigger on them.

These get a little closer than the ones in the original post, because they have wires (& I like this blue better than the original) but the backs are still wrong.

I’m starting to wonder if one could be altered, by detaching the straps and reattaching them crossed to the opposite sides.

Hmmm, I see. Not sure. Again I like the bright pink one. Eye candy!

Since you are considering alterations anyway, how about getting a invisible bra attached to the dress? Like, attach the cups to the dress. Can that work?

Interesting idea to have cups sewn in. Sadly, I don’t think the bodice fits closely enough for this to work. I tried sticking some of those removable foam pads from a sports bra or swimsuit in there—they fell out immediately.

When I pick up my jeans tomorrow, I might ask them if they think the alteration on one of the bras would work.
